Man, most guitar gear reviewers don't play in the styles that I like, so I'm so happy I found you!! Someone might be reviewing a distorted sound and then only play a solo with a lot of reverb, or go straight metal -- which is nice, but I'll still have no idea if it works for something like Fall Out Boy etc. Your musical influences are so well aligned with mine, it's always a joy to watch.

Nice comparison. Love the TH30. I was given one as a backline amp on a recent tour and I liked it so much that I immediately bought one when I got home. On that trip I used the dirty channel through a bunch of different cabinets in small/medium clubs and outdoor festivals and it rocked, not one complaint. Plenty of volume and great sound. Since I've owned one I have discovered that I prefer the clean channel. Very responsive, just classic guitar tone. With an overdrive pedal or two it wails. The ability to switch the wattage down to 7W is cool but that 7W is still loud as heck, probably too much for an apartment setting. Orange amps are impressive these days, I wouldn't mind having a couple more of them.

The Dark Terror was able to keep up across the board with the various dirty tones, but not with the clean tones. So if you're playing all or mostly metal I think the Dark Terror is the clear choice based on cost. But the bigger amp is more of a complete amp, for more uses. Before seeing this demo I was considering the Dark Terror, but not anymore. I like clean tones and sometimes I play a Tele or Strat, and I think the Dark Terror would suck for those tones.

To my ears, the Dark Terror kept up pretty well in the high gain clips, but the clean side just wasn't as good as the TH30's clean channel. Thanks to your channel, I've been able to hear very clear comparisons between the Orange amps and was able to finally pick the one I wanted (just ordered the TH30).
@xEvilASh3 жыл бұрын
So how is the TH30 working out for you? Been thinking on pulling the trigger on one myself. I was originally interested on the OR15 but I really need 2 channels.
@prosperity-gospel3 жыл бұрын
@@xEvilASh I really, really like it. It's become my favorite amp. The clean channel is really incredible, as you can hear here. The gain channel is excellent as well. I'm a big fan of the shape control vs a typical eq section, because you basically just find where it works best with your other gear and leave it there (in my experience it means less fiddling with it). The only situation where I wouldn't get one is if you want a wide range of sounds out of just one amp. There's no way you'll get a JCM or Blackface sound out of it; it's always going to sound like an Orange (which I think is awesome, but it's just not a super versatile amp).
@xEvilASh3 жыл бұрын
@@prosperity-gospel that’s great! Sound wise I’m more of a Mesa guy but I really want to add an Orange. I always thought they looked so cool and from what I’ve seen the TH30 is probably what I’ll end up going with.
