Orangutan Supermum Still Carries Both Babies

Orangutan super mum is still carrying both babies, Jim and Joe. I do get asked a lot and people miss seeing her carrying the babies. But yes, she's still carrying them. Not quite as often anymore, but on occasions like this, filmed a couple of days ago, she still does. They must be getting quite heavy now. Soon, they will be two years old already. Jazz and Joe have a little bit of leek, while Jim is watching them eat and having a peek in my direction. When the wind catches him, he quickly huddles into Mum's arms, holding on tight. Jazz collects a few more bits and makes her way to the inside. Before she goes in, though, she drops both babies off. "Enough carrying for now, go and play." Sprout, the mother of Joe and daughter of Jazz, is joining the three, sitting by the door. Jim happily plays with the strap. I thought his belly got quite a bit bigger. I still love the pigmentation heart on his chest. A little later, when Jim and Joe have a squabble in front of the door, Jazz tries to separate them. Joe moves off in the end, and Jim stays with his mum and has a feed. You might think she's favouring Jim, her son, but this is just a short scene, and as you saw in the beginning, she's still carrying both around and caring for them. The other day, I saw her curled up in a deep sleep. I would have loved to be able to show you how she was lying there; unfortunately, I couldn't get a proper camera angle on her and just had glare. To describe it, she was lying there with both babies in her arms, holding them tight like they were one fluffy ball. The babies looked so safe in her arms. Such an amazing bond between them.

I prefer the cold too, but not the damp😁. Jazz lost quite a bit of weight in the last few months. So I think they look even bigger in her arms.

Óla 👋 Jazz is such a wonderful mum (and grandma) both are raised with the same care, with the same love. Thank you very much SV for allowing us to follow in time this family (and a lot of other individuals/species) where the roles of each are a little different from the traditional scheme but whose big winners are undoubtedly Jim and Joe. Jazz has a heart bigger than her. She is truly an exceptional mom, maybe she expects that it is Jim and Joe who have less need to return to her because clearly she as long as they need her she will always be there for them. She’s a mom all the time, every breath, every heartbeat is full of love for Jim and Joe. As I read once in a comment, « Jazz is a legend ». No doubt she really is. And to say that some people are still not sure that animals are feeling emotions… Jazz could give lessons to some humans. Big hugs from south west of France 👋😘😘😘

The boys are getting so big!! Watching them eat celery sticks reminded me of when I used to make my kids Ants on a Log (peanut butter on celery with raisins lined on top) when they were little so long ago 😊
