This video did not answer why my tractor doesn’t move. It doesn’t move in hi or low. It is rotating clockwise. So what else could be wrong? It also makes a clicking sound while the arms circle.

Thank you very much. I bought this at an antique store because I loved it. I got it home and tried everything, I couldn't get it to walk. Changing the direction of the sprinkler arms Did the trick. I never would have thought that was it. Also explaining how Slow, it walks. It might be walking and you don't see it. Put a marker down a steak or a stick, Wait fifteen minutes and see if it moves. Also, mine did not come with the shut off ramp. I imagine it could burn itself out if you don't watch it and shut it off at the end. Or I'll try to find a ramp on Ebay.

I own 3 of these lawn tractors. (Acreage and rentals) At this point 2 of them are dead. Very familiar with the operation. Arms oriented correctly, in gear, plenty of pressure. I can only surmise the the gearing mechanism is faulty. At $80.00 a whack they are a little to spendy to be disposable. Newest one is in its second season. The other two are 3 seasons old. Anyone else have issues with the gear mechanism?

If there is too much hose (weight) the lil gear gets stripped. I think they used to be made with better components

mine will move for about 10 seconds and then it starts clicking and won't move anymore. forward or backward. i've washed it and tried to see if there was some dirt or a rock stuck making it so it wouldn't move but still...it won't go forward. ready to burn the damn thing

I ordered the new aluminum sprinkler arms and put them on. Attached hoses, etc. The arms start to spin and then stop. It seems the black rotating device gets tight and will not turn. Any solutions?

Can I order just the gear I need or do I have to purchase the whole gear housing? My drive gear stripped when it jumped the hose and ran into gate. Which caused it stop but not the gears which continued to strip out. Cause it could not turn wheels

I just used my traveling sprinkler. it docked and turned off. Now I moved it to a new location and turned the water on and no water comes out of sprinkler. The wheels are locked. I pushed on the button underneath to see if it needed to be released, nothing. I turned water off for an hour, went out and tried it again, nothing. It's like it is locked in the off/docking mode. Any help would-be appreciated.

There's some things it could be. Check to see if there is grass caught in the white stopper. It should be able to push in and spring back out. If it is stuck up then there may be grass caught in it. if that doesn’t bring the stopper out then please send us your contact info via a private message on social media and we'll get your info to send you a warranty replacement.

I just bought one of these to water my front and side yard. I have used other traveling sprinklers in the past so i am use to the setup and operations of the unit. One thing i ran into a few times while using the Orbit traveling sprinkler that is when the shut off button goes over the hose it triggers the button and shuts down the sprinkler. I used a 100 ft hose and it shut off 4 times before I gave up for the day, once on the straight section and 3 on a gentle curve section. Never made it to the shutoff ramp. Am i doing something wrong?

I'm having the same problem with the one I just bought. Had 2 others that never had this problem,. I've wrapped some electrical tape around the spring but that negates the auto shutoff when it hits the ramp. Not sure of they changed the springs or valves but I'm about to be done with it.

My orbit goes about 15 ft and then stop and won't go any more. Have tried it a few times and it happens every time. Have any idea what cause it to do that

My tractor worked fine at first. We use well water to operate the tractor. Over time, there has been a build up of an reddish iron residue on the arms and perhaps internally. I can not determine how to fix this problem. Any suggestions?

This sounds like it's something in the water. The internals are plastic gears, so no possibility of corrosion. The arms are aluminum, so also, no possibility of corrosion. We do offer replacements of both (found here: store.orbitonline.com/?s=traveling+sprinkler&c=0).

Sounds like you have very hard water, i.e, iron -rich. The only way to avoid problems with this is to install a water filtration system to remove the iron before it reaches the sprinkler.

it could be a number of things: water pressure may not be sufficient, wands are not correctly aligned, or there is a gear mechanism problem. My orbit traveling sprinkler wheels only move in neutral. In high and low they don't move and the spring underneath is down so it should be moving. How can it be fixed?

please note that when in gear the wheels are "locked" and will not spin freely. they will only spin with the drive of the rotor when attached to a running hose. You sent a replacement gear mechanism which we have replaced and it did not move after an hour on the hose with the arms moving in the correct direction. We tried it on High and Low settings. We live in the country with a well. I am wondering, if our water pressure is not enough to force it to move. We have a Nelson traveling sprinkler that moves but the Orbit won't. Suggestions?

My dad has one that won't follow the hose. It jumps off and continues straight ahead. Even if the hose slightly curves.

This is my experience too. VERY disappointing to pay so much for a sprinkler only for it to break so soon. MAYBE Orbit should consider manufacturing the gears out of metal and not cheap plastic.

My father's day Orbit Sprinkler does not move-it's goes back tomorrow and I go back to the old fashioned way of watering-from the reviews I've read, this is an enormously disappointing product.

My traveling sprinkler is about 2 weeks old. I turned it on, and the wheels will move about and inch rotation forward, and then snap backwards to their original position. Any ideas? Wheels turn freely otherwise, and the arms are rotating clockwise.

The wheels can only move freely when in neutral gear. So we'd suggest making sure it is in gear. Remember the wheels move incredibly slowly, nearly imperceptible to the naked eye. This is so there is adequate coverage of water. If in neutral, the sprinkler will spin, but the gears driving the wheels won't be engaged so no movement will happen. Let us know if that doesn't work.

The plastic gearbox strips out. Only use half the length of hose that Orbit recommends.

I know this is an old video. But I was wondering if there is a lubricant that can be used to free up the spray arms etc (the arm/boom has resistance in the spinning)

The blades face backwards? Don't you mean one is backward and one is forward? That's how you have them set. My tractor just stopped moving. Setting is right. Wands are turning clockwise.

Correct. If the wheels are in gear, they will only move in the selected direction and only when the water is turned on to power the motor forward.

Typically backward movement is the result of your sprinkler arms not being installed to "face" the right direction, but that's not always the cause of this problem. The wheels can only move freely when in neutral gear. So we'd suggest making sure it is in gear. If in neutral, the sprinkler will spin, but the gears driving the wheels won't be engaged so no movement will happen.
