I love using drill brushes for cleaning carpets before scrubbing them clean. I’ve used my drill on my shower and never had it feel like it was going through the glass. I have noticed that if you do not keep it steady (corded drills mainly) it swill start to twirl and eventually have the brush go wonky to the point the black part hits the glass (idk if that’s what you’re talking about with it “going through”). I have also noticed that with cordless drills, they spin at a much slower RPM to the point you don’t lose control of it and is completely safe for glass. (My option)
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 3 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you are one of the people who have control over your drill. I unfortunately see a LOT of glass breakage from inexperienced house cleaners which is why we don't send cleaners out for glass jobs with a drill.
@Ca31_Buff
@Ca31_Buff 3 жыл бұрын
@@AskAngelaBrown oh that makes sense. All you need to do it take your time and don’t hold the trigger all of the way. Then you’ll be all set. I think I’ve only used it once on my glass when I got some water marks that I just couldn’t get off (in the end, the drill couldn’t get it off). So I just sprayed vinegar on it, and after a little while, the marks went away, and ended up giving the glass a water beading effect.

My favorite buffers are the Ryobi PBLID-02 and the Ryobi P4400. The 2nd one is water tight. Both use the 1/4" hex shank pads. The first one is better for cleaning larger areas. It also is strong enough to break free lug nuts on a car. 🐀🐾

Hi Angela, thanks for the video. I wanted to ask what would be the best tool to use for cleaning a large bathroom tiles surface? you touched on a drill and a 6'' orbital buffer, but there are also some other machines - you have the 10'' orbital buffer, the long-throw random orbital buffer, an orbital sander and a sander-polisher machine. assuming you can fit a scotch pad on any of these the difference would mostly be the type of motion, the speed and the machine's weight. Did you ever try it? thanks! :)

hello Angela! I love your videos. They are super informative and sometimes motivate me when I need to get some cleaning done. I have a question that maybe you could answer in a video - what is the best way to dust Knick knacks and tchotchkes? (Small items with lots of crevices and different textures.). Are there any products that actually repel dust? I have several areas like a collectibles shelf, rock collection, my cosmetics/vanity items, and travel souvenirs that are so annoying to clean because of so many little pieces and it takes forever.

It depends on the material the knick knack is made of. Often we'll use a Swiffer duster, sometimes a damp cloth. some need to go in a sink full of hot soapy water, others can be put in the dishwasher, some need to be treated with a special polishing cloth or dusted with makeup brushes. The job will be priced based on the method of cleaning needed and the time it will take to clean the items.

@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
Happy new year to you as well. For see through glass you can use a glass cleaner and for the white cabinets a diluted version of Krud Kutter amzn.to/3FnoE5d would be my best suggestion. Use it on the inside of a cabinet first to make sure that the strength is not too strong (you don't want it to dissolve the paint. But you want it strong enough to degrease the cabinets. When diluting Krud Kutter the rule is 10 parts water to 1 part Krud Kutter.

What buffer do you suggest for cleaning silver or silver plate? Elbow grease not working. The orbital buffer you use is quite large.
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
I recommend trying a smaller handheld orbital buffer or a rotary tool with a buffing attachment. These tools provide controlled polishing and can effectively remove tarnish and restore shine without excessive effort. Remember to use a gentle polishing compound suitable for silver to avoid damaging the surface. Additionally, consider using soft microfiber or cotton pads with the buffer to achieve the best results. Always test a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure the method is suitable for your specific silver item. Hope this helps, Happy Cleaning!

I get the worry about mixing electricity and water - it's a legit concern. Try to keep the cord and drill away from water as much as possible while using them. Using a GFCI outlet in your bathroom is a smart move; it's like a safety net for electrical mishaps. And when you're done, just make sure everything is dry before stashing it away. Safety first!

The drill is built like a gun and is designed to go in a forward motion. The going through glass is house cleaners not holding it in a static position when using it. If you are not really careful or if you make any jumpy or forward movements - the force of the electric drill in your hands can plow right through the shower glass door. Does that make sense?

Hi Angela awesome video as always! Carpenter enthusiast here, just pointing out that you may be confusing a drill which is basically a spinning machine and a hammer drill, which yes, it also spins but when confronted with resistance it delivers a forward push, thus helping you get through something quicker (which I think that’s what you may be referring to)

Hey I had a question I was hoping you'd have some insight on. I noticed that a lot of buffers have random orbits and that is done to prevent obvious circles when used on cars. However, I feel that it may not be good for cleaning a shower glass door. Do you think a buffer that spins at a constant set RPM would work better, or would it not make too much of a difference? I saw that Black and Deckers buffer is also random orbit which is the same model that you have. Are you overall satisfied with how the unit works, or do you think it'd be more effective if it wasn't random?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
I perfer the random orbiter for the very reasons you mention. And as long as you have control over it (and this one has two big handles, so it is easy to have control, this is my preference. And, I use the 6 inch pad not the 9 inch. I feel its easier to maneuver in my caddy and also on a wall than the bigger unit.

Happy New Year Angela! I notice you use a corded drill, and I’d be keen to know if it’s a weight or efficacy decision (or something else altogether). Currently using a cordless drill, but the battery makes it sooo heavy the first time I used it to clean shower bases was also the last.
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 3 жыл бұрын
I choose the corded hand tools because it guarantees the batteries will never run out in the middle of a job. Cordless hand tools are much heavier and for the most part and do lead to arm and hand fatigue, which is not scalable for all employees on the job. We use mid range tools, lightweight, inexpensive, but strong enough wattage to get the job done. The corded tools reduce complaints, on the job injuries, and excuses for not completing work done because somebody forgot to charge the batteries between jobs.
