Probably a missed opportunity with this song today, had it been a single released in 1985 it would have been a top 10 hit for sure. I can’t stop listening to this fantastic tune. Hopefully an all new album from you guys in the next year or so. Congrats 🥳 on the 40 years.

It is classic OMD era 1984, very close to the B-Sides of "Junk Culture" like "Her Body in my Soul". As it was recorded in February 1985, it is from the recordings for the follow up album before they took Stephen Hague on production duties, who completely changed their sound . This collection of unreleased stuff is going to be amazing!!!!

amo ésta canción! I fell in love with a liberator She kept me waiting four hours later She screams and shouts and she tells me lies But she gets away with her steel blue eyes I fell in love with a girl in black She's far away but I want her back She seldom calls and she never writes I think of her almost every night I surrender, I surrender I will surrender to your love I surrender, I surrender I will surrender to your love I gave my love to a liberator And they say that love will make you greater It's just a lie to keep you down To make you swim when you wanna drown If Christmas comes ten times a year It wouldn't even dry one tear At times like these I do my best And cry with one more last request I surrender, I surrender I will surrender to your love I surrender, I surrender I will surrender to your love And she'll never, never ever know That I'll never, ever let her go And she'll never, never even care If she turns around, and I'm not there I fell in love with a liberator Seems I gave my heart to a generator She burns and burns and she hurts best Oh it'd break my heart if I had one left I've tried and tried but I can't explain It's not a feeling I'll have again But if God Almighty looked down on me I wouldn't ask him, "Set me free" I surrender, I surrender I will surrender to your love I surrender, I surrender I will surrender to your love And she'll never, never ever know That I'll never, ever let her go And she'll never, never even care If she turns around, and I'm not there

Why didn't this appear on the Liberator album? It actually came between Junk Culture and Crush. It is highly redolent of Junk Culture, could easily have fitted on the eclectic Crush, been a really strong B-side or even a stand-alone single. So much lost treasure to look forward to on the Souvenir boxset...

FINALLY the long lost song I needed to add to "Architecture & Morality's" running time so the album has 9 instead of 8 songs. God these guys are paltry when it comes to numbers on albums, 10 is just too much for them an album. It's not as if they don't have the extra songs as this proves. Now I just hope that the 40th Anniversary edition of "Dazzleships" ousts a hidden extra that is an actual SONG, not another useless instrumental or sample of clocks chiming, steamers blasting, hammers banging etc. Bet it won't, but even so, it means I'll only have 1 OMD album with just 8 songs on it-but note '4-Neu' had to be added to make it 8, which should have been on album anyway as (a) you can't have an album with less than 8 songs & (b) it's Paul sung so should be on there anyway!

Dear OMD. you were doing great, until you brought God into the picture. God is a gentlemen, if you don't want to be set free, He won't do it. it is a gift you need to accept. so those lyrics spoils the premise of this song a bit. maybe someday you may read this comment, and consider a recant. I pray.
