Autozone, O'reilly's or Napa Auto parts? They all offer parts to the aftermarket industry so which one rules supreme? I personally like O'reilly's over Napa or Autozone. Better service, better warranty, guys seem to know what they are doing.

Well, I will tell you this much, Advanced wanted to sell me some Cv axels, and I researched the brand and the only reviews on them were 0*... I went to Autozone and checked up on the Duralast Gold and the reviews were all good, so... Duralast also sold me a pretty good voltage regulator for my alternator.

I have a cousin that was a mechanic for almost 50 years before retiring and bought EVERYTHNG at Napa. The one thing I was disappointed about with Napa is the a/c (brand new) compressor he installed lasted 26 months. He replaced it (out of warranty) and I traded the vehicle in for a newer one shortly thereafter. After retiring, I started using a mechanic close to where I live and when my alternator went out, they told me I could provide the part with one exception, do "not" but it from Autozone. Wouldn't have, regardless if she said to do so.

It honestly all depends on what Im buying. I’ve heard from people that they get a faulty starter/alternator off of the shelf. I honestly think some of that falls on you as the consumer. AutoZone is always my first choice and whenever Im buying an alternator or starter I have them test it right then and there before I even pay for it. You have to do your own due diligence. Parts get damaged in transit to the store or just get dropped and something comes loose. Always test those components before purchasing. I had to buy a timing belt tensioner for a J35 and AutoZone didnt have any quality brands available and I wouldnt go cheap on an important part like that. So I went to O’Reilly’s to get a GATES Brand Tensioner, it was twice as much as all the other brands that both stores offered so for me it was a no brainer. I’ve always bought all my parts from AutoZone but theres always 1 or 2 things you must go to a competing store for. Whenever I buy alternators I get the Gold, not the remanufactured ones. The brand new ones out the box. They’ve always worked and one of them I installed about 3 years ago and is still going strong

Yeah, lots of the bad rap comes from people buying the budget grade remanufactured stuff. That’s for flippers and the desperate. I buy the best stuff from autozone and don’t have bad experiences. I get funny looks from the parts guys because they almost never sell a $200 alternator-just the $65 ones.

Just got back from AutoZone in Price, Utah. Found myself in an argument with Ben. Went in for a warranty on a toggle switch that malfunctioned. This was the third toggle switch I bought that malfunctioned. The one employee was going to exchange the bad toggle switch a higher amp toggle switch that was the same price ($8.39). Then Ben said he wasn't going to cover the warranty because I had been in there before and accused me of doing something to the toggle switches, asked me what have I been doing to the toggle switches. I responded back with I haven't been doing anything, then said it's the switch. It was obvious It was the switch. Then Marty Forrest jumped in there and said I was hitting the switch with my foot. Though it was obvious that it was the switch. Ben said I can't come back to AutoZone, threatened to call the cops on me. Went across the street to O'REILLY'S, purchased a toggle switch, heater is working again.

I can see why some DIY guys do not like oreilly but they have great parts brake parts are great, I am a shop owner so I have a wholesale account my daughter needed brakes on her car, her boyfriend was going to do it but could not get the rotors off so I did it she asked me where to get the parts I said oreilly she priced pads and rotors $470 I got the same thing for $235, so it looks like oreilly is after the pro mechanic, the first call thing is great you just go to the back and get your parts no need to stand in line at the front counter

My preference in order is Auto Zone, Napa, Advanced Auto, O’Reilly. I put Auto Zone first because I’ve had good luck with their parts and tools and their staff is generally pretty friendly. Napa second because of quality but in my area the employees don’t seem to have the first clue about anything, Advanced third because of their staff, O’Reilly last because of very rude staff. Only reason I go to O’Reilly is my friend works there he is the only one I’ll deal with. And they have good tools too. I know the experiences are based on area and certain stores. O’Reilly and Advanced are closest to me but I’ll happily go to the other end of town for Auto Zone or Napa. I’m a professional mechanic at a dealership so that’s where I source most of my parts as we can get parts for any brand from any store or other dealerships. I always tell them to get me Auto Zone or Auto Plus stuff. Auto Plus has a lot of name brands.

Nice segment 👏. my understanding is that all of these parts are relatively from the same vendor , its just different labels they put on them . There all the same brake pads there all the same alternators there all the same calipers. Every now and then tho you do seem to get a bad batch and they go out to all the vendors az , orilyes , napa .

Hey bundy I finally finished up with the valve job, did both cylinder heads! Cleaned valves, polished them and change the valve seals, re-installed valves and rocker arms torque everything 2 spec! Also got the oil pan off and cleaned the pick oil pick up with super clean and hot water real nice! Going to be buying the lithium grease soon for the head bolts!! And toyota bond for oil pan as you said! Also changing the cam seals next and putting back cam gears on both heads before I place them back onto block! So far going good cleaned both intake runners and got new gaskets for water passage and intake and all. So still waiting on your reply about head bolt sequence 3 step or 4 step meaning lmk if you can reply on those comments I left you under other videos I left. So yeah almost getting closer to reinstalling everything I think I'm aceing..it so far with valve seals keepers springs, rocker arms and polishing valves cleaning intake and exhaust was a bict....if u know what mean especially exhaust but I used heavy duty degreaser and went2town!.. so. When I get the heads back on ill follow your steps and rotate the engine to tdc engine fire 1 to do the valve lash then 4 and so on i guess is the firing sequence before I put back on valve covers timeing covers and intake manifold and then I guess spark plugs ignition coils harness ext.. so yeah lmk if I doing good also wanted to send you some pics to your email so you can check it all out ok hope to hear back from you bundy when you get a chance thanks Anthony

The only time I go to one of those places is to dump drained oil & buy light bulb. None of them carries OEM-grade parts and are mainly made in China. Few people pay attention to the country of origin. I get my parts from either online vendors (AcuraPartsForLess, Acurapartswarehouse, Acurapartsnow, Bernardi Acura parts, OEMAcuraParts, etc... some are run by the same company while others are dealers' parts department selling parts online) or a dealer that gives me deals. Yes, they are $$$ but I am not installing some cheap China parts on my Acura. Yes, on eBay I see a lot of counterfeit parts (almost all of them are made in China). Some of them even claim OEM, and have stickers similar to OEM (HONDA). However, they are easily recognizable, as they use distinct font on the labels. All genuine Honda parts also come with country of origin stamped (USA, JAPAN, CANADA, MEXICO & VIETNAM). Amazon tends to be expensive (about the same $$$ as the OEM or even higher).

I have an O'Reilly's and an Autozone within two blocks walk of me...that's important. I'll check both online and go to the one that has the best of what I want. But I've got a Car Quest a short drive away, and I'll check them too when I can. Between the three, they have enough well-known and respected parts lines that I haven't needed to go to the Napa much further away. But I think Napa is better for buying specialized tools for specific jobs. And then there is Rockauto, which I'll order from when I'm planning ahead for a major job.

If you’re working on old stuff….ask for the older employee. No offense to the younger generation, but they are only computer literate….unable to handle problem solving 101. And….if you’re not sure why online parts are so cheap, it’s because they don’t have the building, the employees, or the costs of running the stores. Buy local when possible, and save the online for odd stuff they don’t have or can’t get easy.

They're all the same. It just comes down to who has the best price. I had more than one case, over the years where I've bought parts from one store, had issues later and chose another store to get the "BETTER" quality part. Paid more for it, and discovered I got the same exact part, just a later production date.Spoke to a fellow who was a District manager for one of the "Better Quality" parts stores and he told me that a lot of the parts they all sale only come from a very small group of producers. So, you can go to one store, get the part for $20-30 less, with a lifetime warranty. Or, you can spend more money and buy the same part, but only get a 90day - 5 year warranty... Let your pocket decide.

Yes! If you have time... I have had great success with Amazon also! I did buy 2 A/C blower modules from Ebay for 100 each! This is for a home A/c unit. The parts stores wanted 1200-1500 for the complete motor assembly which included motor and module! Thats just for one! You have to be careful though, some parts have to be programmed, before you can use them.

@@charlesbrown8008 Hate to break it to you but, twice: once with an AC blower motor(Discount Auto to Napa change on my Dodge Ram), and 2nd with a Water Pump(Orielly to Napa on Ford Bronco) and I was holding the same part, made in the same factory, just a different year date stamped on the parts. Difference was Napa had either a 90day or 1 yr warranty, Discount had a Lifetime warranty and I paid at least twice as much for the Napa part. Then got conformation of parts source from friend I helped coach Little league with, who was the district manager for the Napa stores in the area.

I just bought O'Reilly's platinum AGM battery ($250+tax). Put it my truck, and the battery was down to 25%. Took it straight back to O Riley's and they would not exchange it. They offered to charge it for me if I wanted to wait in the store for an hr or more. They even said I could borrow their tools to get it out and bring it into the store for them. Never again! No they don't. AZ and AA are bottom of the barrel in my opinion. I would rather shop at O'Reilly's, why, better customer service, better selection and higher quality parts. You go into an Autozone and the 17 year old covered in zits is going to ask you for year, make and model when you ask for 14 inch wiper blades or 2 feet of 1/2 inch coolant hose.

@silentagony1019 too funny. I know that agony. But most auto guys already. Know the size wiper blade they need. The point is autozoner, when asking for easy stuff like wiper blades, coolant hose, or fuses, most kids at AZ want a year make model when us car guys already know what we are looking for.

AutoZone has the fucking worst customer service. At least the stores I use do. I all but quit buying there, unless I can't find something at O'Reilly's. Napa seems OK but there are so few stores I don't go there often. In the end, all the parts are the same shit no matter the store you go to. It's all Chinese made, with just a different label.

I mean yeah, if you're buying a specific name part, like NGK. I was more saying like AZ uses alot of Duralast parts, that are the same as Orielly's brand that I can't think of. You can look at the specific part number and they will match across the chains. It's all just the same rebranded stuff. And even companies like Standard, Moog, Hella, Sylvania, and other once US made parts are all Chinese now. I especially hate the bulk wire and switches. The wire uses a MM diameter so AWG strippers can't strip it well, on top of the shitty plastic insulation instead of rubberized coatings. As well as instead of buying, say a blower motor that was unique to fit maybe 3 cars, now it's a universal fit that will work on 35 different cars, and even then it isn't right for any of them. And it's the same exact motor no matter where you get it. I been seeing some bad shit about RA, and I'd much rather be able to see a part before buying it. Remember a human wrote up the part description, and we ain't exactly perfect, lol...
