Inspect the parts as soon as there delivered. Take pictures of damaged box and items. Start a return with them immediately. Don't let the part sit for two weeks before your inspect.

I just got burned by that today. I'm done with these jokers. Just file a chargeback with your CC and don't bother with their email nonsense. I ordered 'premium' Walker exhaust parts and got some Chinese 'Exhaust Mate' knock-offs. same PN as Walker. Called Walker and they confirmed, not their product. RA offered me a $3 refund.

I’ve ordered stuff from them in the past never had a problem. I just ordered a muffler for my Toyota Camry. It came it look like it fell out of the truck got run over a few times dragged around and then thrown back in the truck. No shipping box. Just a label taped to it, all bent to crap no way I was going to use it. And by the way, this part was not cheap. Then I find out about the return process. What a hassle! They also ask you if you want a replacement part. Not if it comes looking in the way the other one did.

i orderd a denso cabin air filter for my rav4. the old filter was a stp. funny the stp was so much better then the counterfet denso. it was so flimsy it would not even slide into place without collapsing. wonder did they sell rock auto to china. that would explain no phone calls

Agree 100%, I used to buy all my parts for two different brands for a decade now, just last week I had an issue with a faulty part under a warranty, eventhough right in their part info it states the OEM pn it replaces, they would not honor the warranty; excuse was it was not order directly thru the particular year/model menu, eventhough this part is used in all the vehicles in the car platform that uses the same engine (10years +) ?! Also price savings arent there either, so I will be shopping elsewhere now

I ordered some crankshaft bearings from them last year and received a box of bearings, inside the shipping packaging, that had loose Clevite bearings rattling around in the parts box with the corners of the bearings scratching and gouging the bearing surfaces with every rattle. The bearings were neither nested within one another or shrink wrapped in plastic I typically try and stick with names I grew up with my dad using like Raybestos and Wagner brake parts, Gates belts and hoses, Felpro gaskets, Champion spark plugs, etc. RockAuto replaced the part but its not the point. Before I ever opened the box I knew there was a problem. Why didn't they?

Some of the packaging is weird and probably not "right." I had a set of brake pads come in the original box but the pads were wrapped in an old dirty shop rag. They did not appear to be used but the old shop rag I know didn't come from bosch.

Found out the hard way they DO NOT WARRANTY their parts labor when the part self destructs after 2days!!! Labor was $540 sometimes quality parts is worth the extra cost. Pass on Rock Auto!!!!

This is true for literally all parts sellers. The only time you get the labor warrantied is if you buy the parts from the shop doing the labor, (and after paying their often substantial markup).

It's helpful to know that their quality overall is slipping. Thanks for that info. However, I prefer email because that gives me a record of the "conversation". No more he said she said. If they tell me they'll do something, I have it in writing. No offense, but it does seem that people of a certain age tend to prefer phone conversations over text and email. Nothing against that, I just feel differently.

Thomas - I have kept an extremely organized file of all emails I send or receive since I got my first computer in 1994. Although I lost access to files from the first few years (MacOS 9.1 transitioning to OS X) I still have everything from 2011 on. Every email subject line begins with a date code (year/month/day) so they automatically file chronologically and I have individual folders for each person/entity alphabetically by last name so I can easily find any email I want pretty quickly. For me phone conversations have always been pretty much a waste of time. If you are even mildly literate and have decent reading comprehension skills you should be able to communicate as well with the written language as you do orally. If not, then you should have paid more attention in grade school. ;-) My single email communication with RockAuto resulted in a response in 28 minutes, as I stated in a previous comment here. Granted, I haven’t done $10K of business with them per year, but my own results are at 100% so far, so I only have praise for RockAuto. I was careful to order the correct parts and the one part I ordered incorrectly was my own fault for not understanding the metric involved. I ate the cost since it was so small anyhow and didn’t bother RockAuto with trying to do a return, especially since it was my fault. I’ll pass on the unused item to someone who can use it. By the way, I’m 72, so do I fall into that category of “people of a certain age”? ;-)

I got 2013 Honda Pilot Ex Sport 175k miles.I need a rear wheel hub and 2 rear shocks and 4 sway bar links. I was looking at moog for the wheel hub and KYB for the shocks. Probably will get the sway bar links from Honda. Im seeing a lot of mixed up opinions about moog and movatech. I’m not sure what to order from rock auto I been doing my research for a month. Please tell us the other sources you are using. They sent me the wrong part and in emails said it was my fault... The rotor was listed under my car's profile I ordered the same brand for front and rear. The rear fit perfectly, the front were too big. I will never use them again and YES the packing is really lacking now!
