Germany has the reputation of a highly unreliable defence supplier. Out of the blue they can pull out a moralistic reason to suspend supplies. We have had bad experiences in the past. Incidentally the Project 75I submarine deal is lingering for over a decade. We had to find alternate suppliers for Arjun engine.

Great point. This needs to be rubbed in their face over and over again, every time any commercial discussion comes up. Then again, they're pretty much losing a lot of bargaining power as things stand now.

They have a very weird govt set up honestly I doubt anyone outside of NATO countries feels any different. If they ever have a strong majority govt i think they'd have a much more coherent policy. Either ways there has been some development in the relationship over past few years. They have made it a little more smoother.

The Arjun engine criticism is unfair. No sane private company will keep the production line for a legacy engine running without orders for 20 years in the hopes that at some point in the distant future a piddly order for a kit 120 more engines would be ordered. Neither will anyone re-establish a production line for such a laughably small order. The blame squarely lies on DRDO, IA, MoD and the erstwhile OFB. Arjun is a failure because of their collective incompetence. Why blame anyone else for it?

We had that very horrid comment of Angela (hardly that) Merkel that Germany made a huge mistake of giving Pharma tech to India. It has killed Bayer of something like that. Obviously she thinks pharma is an instrument of money making only. Sorry poor

China is China today because of many investments from outside world. A major part of it came from US and China. India should work on attracting more investments from Germany. Bring manufacturing here.

Germany is a unreliable partner in defence and military. Grrmany can be a good commercial and industrial tech partner on a transactional basis, not much more.
@anilk611 күн бұрын
With the discussion i can say there be transactional relationship with them. They cannot be trusted... if they feel russia is bad then they definately have no good intention on India..
@vishalbajaj42319 күн бұрын
Are you Indianor Russian?? Also Russia is not bad but Putin is. Why do we have to put all our eggs in the Putin basket, just like we did with Hasina in Bangladesh.

Germany is very leftist and very slow to respond. Their economy and future is quite bleak and hence their more active outreach to India. They are so focused on details that they cannot pivot quickly which is a fatal flaw in this fast changing world.

Germany is dead. India should move on and not focus much on Germany. They are still stuck in the past while india and the world has moved on. There is no future for Germany without china and Russia.
