Harvesting organic strawberries from the strawberry crate tower is so much fun! I refreshed the soil and fertilized the strawberry crate towers for the spring growing season a few weeks ago ripe strawberries are popping out all over the place. Some beautiful strawberries right there! My daughter loves them that when she sees some ripe ones she would scream , " Mama, red strawberries" ! Well, she just harvested two this week on different days. She was happy with that. She even want to pick out those which are still pink. :-)

I did this with some wood crates and a hole saw. Already getting berries forming here in zone 8. Can't wait! Hoping to keep it away from the birds.

Great berries. My mom would cut them in half add some sugar and leave overnight. then my Dad would add some red wine.

I'm going to have to try one of these towers. Strawberries look amazing. I saw a great tip on using plastic snakes from the dollar store to keep the birds away from grapes or strawberries if you have any issues with that.

Hello Maria -Sounds like you might have spittle bugs. They don't do much harm to your plant- wash them and the foam off with a spray of water. Hello, DebandJef87! In my gardening zone, my strawberries winter over beautifully! I have heard in colder climates that they will do the same, particularly if they are mulched well. Maybe if you cut the bottom out of a leaf bag you could slip it over a tower like a tube and stuff the space around the tower with leaves.

If you have some water supply for the birds, like bird baths, they usually leave the strawberries alone!! They are thirsty and eating them for the water in them. That works for me, good luck ;)
