You have helped me get back to the person I want to be, the person I used to be. Thank you. I was always called "prissy" because I love to be intentional and have things just for enjoyment. I recently sold my old house I bought bank owned. Without realizing it, I was making it very enjoyable to look at, very peaceful. I had taken the doors off all my cabinets and painted the inside of my cabinets. I was shocked when the realtor told me how "difficult" it would be for others to live like that, that most just throw the stuff in and shut the door!! I recently went to the hospice thrift store near my home and saw beautiful depression glass, some pink, green, light blue and also milk glass. I could have taken it all home with me!! It's so beautiful but was so very expensive, even at the thrift store! Starting saving now!!

I really love the color you chose for your secretary insert, very elegant and calming and pretty! You inspired me to get a secretary desk as well. I took off the doors to my upper cabinets (with a bunch of kids in the house they were always left open anyways). I let the kids put away the dishes whatever way they want unless there's company coming, then I straighten them up fast. I was going crazy with the way it looked letting them put dishes away but they're still learning and I need to be more patient with them. Homeschooling family of 15 with 14 still living at home 😁 I can't be picky without losing my mind!

I have to say, your IKEA kitchen has really held up - both in its construction and its style. My daughter and I have been going to IKEA for years and we always love going through the kitchen showrooms and opening and closing the slow-close drawers and cabinets and opening them up to check out all of the organizers inside. You did a great job choosing everything and I think one of the reasons it's in great shape is because you take such good care of it. Love the color you used to paint the desk insert - beautiful!

Every single shot in this video was so beautiful Nikki. Goodness you work hard! I would be content getting through two items on your lists per day. The deep clean on the kitchen was so inspiring. Mine is desperately in need of a thorough clean with hot soapy water; grease just seems to cling to everything in the kitchen and here in TX we also have a permanent coating of gritty dust. It comes right back almost immediately. I can see that every item in your kitchen has been curated for practicality as well as beauty for your whole family - that must feel so good. The new desk is just lovely and I completely agree that the wood tone is soft and warm and really complements the fireplace and your dining set. I love how the insert turned out and as another viewer said I smiled so big to see you do that project a) in the living room and b) using your pretty dishes for the paint!!! You get 100 gold stars for neatness 😁 Lastly, the scene where you’re painting at your desk, with the fire going and your adorable little dog on your lap was truly gorgeous. The way you set that shot up was like a movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of that because I am going through something called anticipatory grief right now, it’s 3am and I couldn’t sleep but you managed to make everything seem all right for a whole hour. Much like after I had kids, there are certain dresses that just don't look nice on me anymore and that's okay. I'm still fine tuning my style and it changes with age I have found.

I have gotten up early for many reasons but now, my body also just gets up that early. I have days here and there where I can sleep a little later but that's the time Jorge wakes up as well. If it's dawn before I wake up, I feel as if a big part of my day is wasted. I will start getting ready for bed between 7:30 and 8 and by 8:30-9:30 I like to be in bed, on a good day. Because we have bible study on Wednesday nights though that's not possible so come bedtime and Thursday morning, I'm usually cranky. Wednesdays are my least favorite days. I'm so happy you are writing friends and using my stationery!

I just love you!! And thank you so much for the lipstick recommend. I find that the perfect everyday lipstick to be so hard to find. My 'go to' has been discontinued and I have been on the hunt for a replacement. That colour looks gorgeous on you. I think we have a very similar skin tone...cool....clean colours look best on me....so I will definitely have a look at "Saucy Mauve".

@@TheLadyoftheHouse Lipstick update: Okay I went to the drugstore last night and boy, colour is such a funny thing! The colour that looks so perfect on you was just a little dark on me. But "Saucy Mauve" was an excellent inspiration and starting place. I wanted the same mood and look but just a wee bit brighter. So using the mauve as my baseline I went through so many colours. You should have seen all the swatches on my arm! But good news! Knock on wood, I think I may have found my new everyday lipstick colour. It's from Revlon. Number 430. It's called "Softsilver Rose" . It's a "Pearl" lipstick so it has a nice sheen. It is the most gorgeous colour!! I think you would like it too. Pictures of it makes it look too bright. It's more toned down and gentle in person. Anyway, who else could I tell? I'm stupidly happy about this lipstick! Thank you Nikki.

Oh no! The pink depression glass item on the stove top is NOT a trivet. It is footed cake plate. If it is truly vintage depression glass (and not a modern reproduction) it is not tempered. If you use it as a trivet for hot items, it will crack. It was made as a serving piece - specifically for cakes.

It's been doing well for what I need it for. Like I said, it keeps whatever we put on the stove from beeping due to temperature fluctuations. Even something room temperature will make it been. I've put warm things on the gland, it can stand it.

All my kids were taught to cook and clean. Ivan makes himself breakfast each morning. He helps quite a bit in the kitchen. Jorge is teaching him to grill as well.
