My husband has been diagnosed with ADHD. He was put on Ritalin which helped him a little. Now he is on Aderall. WOW. He’s not grumpy anymore, he’s more loving, he’s more patient and he’s just exceptional in different aspects of his life. Because of this, we have a better marriage and his relationship with our children is so much better. They used to call him “grumpy daddy” and actually avoid him. Now they cannot wait until he gets home. Aderall is a miracle for our family. Maybe not for other families, but definitely ours. Thank you for sharing your voice in this. My husband thought it was a kids’ problem and not an adults’, therefore he would not seek help for years. By you sharing, you are going to help a lot of people. Thank you.

You are definitely NOT alone! I used to think I was. I was also officially diagnosed about 2-3 years ago and went on medication. I just wish I had done it sooner. It's not a cure all, but it helps! It took me a LONG time to admit I'm a perfectionist. How can I be perfect with all my clutter? Because I can't do anything unless I know I can finish it perfectly. I took your test again and I'm a BEE! I don't remember what I was the first time, but it didn't "feel" right, the Bee does. I bought your book too. Sorry to say, still on the shelf. I'm a work in progress. THANK YOU for all you do! I only wish I had found your channel years ago. Oh yea, can totally relate to the "glazed" looks. My sister sees it on me when her stories get a little long.........like a couple of mins. lol I'm sure others have too. (hanging head in shame) But getting better with help. :)

For what it’s worth I don’t have ADHD and I find most small talk boring, too. One of my least favourite things that people say is, “isn’t this weather amazing?” It makes me feel I have to start being this fake version of myself or something. I am a very friendly person, but loathe forced conversation/relationships. WHY do people always have to talk talk talk? Quiet is ok!!! A smile and a hello is sufficient sometimes.

I've been watching your videos for a while and it helps to have these ideas hammered in every now and again. I love my recycling/donate/out of my house center. We're trying to clean out our house (already had a huge garage sale) and I have paper shopping bags on a bookshelf. I can write what goes inside in Sharpie on the side (donate clothes, recycle broken electronics) and deal with it when the bag is full. I can also put a bag for things that go to my parent's house so as I find things I can put it in the bag and I don't realize I forgot it when I'm 2 hours away from my house.

OMG!! Stitches by Julia led me over to your site. I will be eternally grateful to her and especially you!! I am a butterfly. I have struggled with “surface abuse” all of my life. I am also a mixed media artist and a teacher.; both of which require a lot of stuff!!! You have given me a path forward to have my home and life be as I want them to be! My husband is a lady bug with some cricket tendencies, and I do have some Bee tendencies. Therefore, I have felt he has hidden messes which are no better than my messes that are on display! He has been so stressed by my clutter. Yet our relationship and love is so great that we have been able to work around this for years. Now we can both have the home we want. You have developed the amazing way of helping me “visualize” (get the butterfly pun) how to move forward and give us both the type of organization and home we both need. In addition, we are finishing a detached garage that will be my art studio/classroom for my next career, teaching creativity in my own place. I will gladly send you before and after pics of our house and the building/creating of the studio garage if you would like. I am so excited to move forward with this. You have opened an entire new world for me. I am so grateful.

Thank you Clutterbug!! Your videos convinced me to look into buying a Roomba. We don't have much extra money so $500 or more for a vacuum is way out of my price range. However, I found a used, refurbished Roomba 880 for $245 on eBay with free shipping! I am still learning how to use the lighthouses, but it can clean and clean quietly! We live in a second-floor apartment so I was worried about the noise for downstairs, but there was no need. By the way, you are awesome. Sidenote: I detest any stigma attached to mental illness or any treatment for it. Thank you for being so vocal about your ADHD. The comfort you show with it may help others discuss their own. I have depression, anxiety, and ADHD and have medications for each. I am on a cocktail of meds, but I have found a mix that allows me to be my best self. Based on my own experience I recommend open, honest communication with your doctor, and educating your self. Amazon has a ton of great books on ADHD. (I should know. I have a collection of them. lol)

Wow, congrats you can wait for a conversation to get more interesting and above all, that you can do eye contact. That's huge. I switch my attention off if a conversation I am listening to bores me and I cannot walk off. However, if I am the one being talked to and I switch off, the reactions I get are not really funny. My response to that is: "Please state your point clearly and not between a novel's worth sea of words. What do you want?" It helps, some. I can be exasperating.

You’re my favorite squirrel! I too have ADHD. I know EXACTLY how you feel about trying to stay focused on things like conversations and boring movies. I have Monkey Mind - swinging from this to that to this back to that. I took up knitting a few years back and found that by keeping my hands busy I can really focus on conversations and such. It totally worked for me. I don’t knit all the time, but pretty darn close to it. It’s a pretty easy thing to learn and once you get good at it, you don’t have to look at to too often, so people won’t think you’re NOT listening to them. Crochet works too. Try it!

My daughter has ADHD and we were not sure if we wanted her on medication either. She is a much better person for it let me tell you. She didn't notice much of a difference at first, but, she like you, noticed more when she wasn't taking it than when she was. We tried several different ones before we decided on the one that worked best (and there are a lot out there so do whatever works best in your case. one is not better than the other if the one that works for you is different than what worked for someone else) My daughter also has generalized anxiety disorder and the medications can (and do in her case) make it worse. So with that being said, be on the lookout for this side effect. We still find it beneficial for her to be on the medication and to continue the medication while she is in school because it really has made a difference in her focus and has helped her to get through those really tough projects she never would have gotten through if she wasn't medicated. Stick with what works, just like organizing.

I have your first book and bought it before I found your KZbin channel! I take the quiz once a year because depending on what I'm up to it seems to change. Last year I was mostly a butterfly. This year I'm strongly a cricket. I thing all the purging and organizing I have done things qte getting easier. My donation station fills quickly and I'm getting strict with myself. Using a little Marie Kondo and a lot of clutter bug. Thanks for all your helpful tips. My kitchen has been reorganized in ltmittle steps over the last year or two after every 4 month purge. I did a huge over haul earlier this month. And though I'm still going to the older places where I had the items first before I remember their new location the system is working much better. Ever since I started making all my meals and snacks at home from scratch my kitchen has been my main room. Except when I'm on my bed with cookbooks, magazines and note books for organization, to do and Meal planning lists strewn around(until bedtime). This is when making your bed in the morning is so helpful. Room looks cleaner and larger, it also gives me a cleaner surface to work with. I am so happy with the new more organized rooms and stress levels have decreased. The bathroom get redone periodically as there is repair work being done by the building management. I keep having to empty it all. Bins have become my BFF! There is still work to be done on this small one bedroom tiny apartment with very little storage. I will keep at it with your help and motivation. Also funds for dollar store binq. Every once in a while I go to The Storage Store for ideas and the occasional buy for something special or specific. Or to compare with something on amazon or get size ideas. Thank you so much.

OMG I NEEDED THIS TONIGHT. I cant put into words how bad I SUCK at organizing. Even when I attempt to,my husband comes home and redoes it in a way that makes so much more sense and he does it in a quarter of the time. 🤦🏻♀️ I have been working on my house,so these tips truly do help. I have a question,we live in a relatively small home, with a coat closet and a really weird sheet closet, I guess? But with so many kids and beds, where would you put your extra comforters? This is my BIGGEST struggle in my home. And have I mentioned we are actually the same person. 🤣🤣 I kid you not,I have never met anyone that reminds me of myself like you do. MINUS the fact you've learned to get your shit handled. I am squirreling ALL day that my house will offen times look worse at bedtime then when I started cleaning that morning. But I NEVER stop doing something. I stay busy chasing the damned squirrel all day, every day.😫😫🤣🤣 thanks again!!

I've seen people say store that persons bed sheets in that persons room and same with towels if they have their own. Try storing the sheet set in the pillowcase that comes with it. People have said under the bed, under the mattress, under the pillow. I also like those affordable ottoman cubes with the storage space built in. Adds extra seating too. Kids really like them.

Regarding the "squirrel syndrome", the world today has been diagnosed with it, there is an awesome video of professor Ken Robinson about Changing Education Paradigms that was a wake-up call to me and some of my students who thought they needed medication. Dear Ladybug, you've got the answer: love ❤ and sharing! You do a whole lot more to others than you can possibly imagine, I hope you feel the love in return! Love from Brazil!

Yes, I have "squirrel syndrome" too, diagnosed as an adult. I resisted medication for a while, but gave in when life got even messier and harder. I can tell that your speech has even slowed down by half. That was one of the first things my therapist told me about myself after he had diagnosed me and I started on the meds, so that's something I notice in other people. I do not think you rude, but probably because I relate to you and don't want to think of myself as rude either! Ha! Well done, thank you for your honest feedback on life!

Is there such a thing as adult ADHD? I have seriously thought so many times that I would have something like this..... My mind just does NOT shut off.... and it never stays on one track!!! I feel like a magician .... I can carry on NUMEROUS conversations at once in my head! WOW, thank you, at least I'm not alone?

Yes... For sure ADHD in adults is real for sure. My mom 77.yr... I'm 51. Yr. My daughter 22. My nephew 27. Yes we all have it and learn tips to overcome struggles. It is real and can be very frustrating.

I also suffer from these symptoms when my thyroid is hyper. I run between hyper and hypo constantly and when I'm hyper I have racing thoughts, jittery feelings, can't sleep........ when I'm medicated properly it's like a whole new world of sanity.

Yes, there is adult adhd, usually you’ve probably have had symptoms your entire life. I’ve always been easily distracted as a kid and although I tried to improve the symptoms as an adult, I got diagnosed in my late 20s. I think a lot of women may feel stigma about having adhd and feel like they aren’t measuring up to the idea that they should be organized and “have it together”, but I’ve found things that work for me. Also, I was initially against medication, but as she pointed out in this vid those closest to me have seen positive changes. I’ve also seem to be more productive and less mental distractions.

So glad you are a more sane hot mess. 🤣 Great tips. My husband and I will be empty nesters in the fall and I'm trying to slowly get my house in order. I Love to watch you organize someone's disorganized home. Do more of those please.

That's great, I'm so happy for you! I was totally armchair diagnosing you as I watched your (extremely helpful) videos - one squirrel can recognize another! I've been taking ADHD meds for 6 months. It's such a relief not to have to try so hard at life while being way more effective, and I now have the focus to try to get the house under control. I love your tips, you make SO MUCH sense to me.

I just found your videos today. I've been watching them for a few hours and I have laughed until I've cried. You are so funny and a great storyteller. I look forward to watching all your videos. Now, on a note about the ADHD, my 13 year old son was diagnosed a couple of years ago and he started taking the medicine and it has helped him tremendously. It being hereditary, I'm sure my husband and I also have some form of it. Anyway, I'm glad the medicine is helping you feel better.

Hello fellow Canadian 🇨🇦 I’m a fairly new subscriber and I just love your channel. You have such great tips, and I just love your sense or humour, passion and honesty. My son has severe ADHD and has been taking Biphentin for years. It has changed his life (for the better). Good for you for giving meds a shot, and I’m glad they are helping 💗
