They sell shower curtains that come with lots of storage pockets on the inside of them (the part that faces the tub). Something like that would be perfect for your large family to each store their shower items in; thought it was worth the mention! :)

Ummm, where have you been all this time? I just discovered you yesterday, and I've watched all of your organization room tours as well as your vacation to California. I don't have a large family at all, I actually have only a husband and a dog but I don't watch for tips, I watch for you. I love your demeanor and I'm drawn in each time you pop up on my monitor. I have alway been intrigued by large families and how they function in a home as I didn't have one. I notice that it takes a special skill set to raise a large family and when your soft spoken voice and motherly love flows through my monitor I enjoy every minute of it. Thanks for making these videos, giving us tips and tricks for organizing and a look into your life.

And I agree with that! I was also drawn in by your demeanor and the way you explain what you did, how you did it, and how it works for your large family! It is just me and my two very large, very old dogs - but your videos have so many great ideas that would just work for anyone in any size house! I found myself watching them one right after another. Five so far...and still watching. Keep making them!

I am watching these old videos and it dawned on me that the Good Lord, knowing this lovely lady would pass early, impressed upon her to make these videos. She says time and time again she wants to help, she wants to help people think about things a little differently, to make their lives easier, to make their homes work well... she didn’t monetize her videos, which even further shows that she really truly just wanted to share with other people in hopes that other people could feel the calm and peace she feels in her organized home.... I can not seem to get the words out eloquently but, although I wish so much that new Andrea videos would come out, I know that the Lord had her make these videos because she was SO SPECIAL and the world needed to see her.... as if he said “quick, child, get all this love out into the world before you come home to me”.... and she was following that, letting us all in on how her mind worked to help her family so we can learn from her years down the road.

Some great ideas in here thank you. I am going to do that exact thing with the cabinets above the toilet! Very clever! We are a family of soon to be 7, and our bathroom is even smaller but we do have a larger sink- only one door in helps. It's not a big deal for us because we rarely are all needing to use it at once. Small homes make for close families!

I like the idea of speakers throughout the house, but 24/7 audio bible (or any book!) would get really tiring! Music every once in a while would probably be refreshing for your family. Of course, if you're not in the mood to listen or if you want to listen to music with headphones, you can always turn the speaker off.

yes because of them we have installed a Bluetooth speaker system in our entire house ... we don't use it for the Bible ... But it's nice to have the option to play full house music during chores and stuff

That was my thought. There's a ton of Christian music and worship music I listened to growing up and still listen to. I think any audio-book playing 24/7 would drive me mad.

I just came across your Channel today and this is the third video I have watched I do like the fact that you listen to the Bible audio 24/7 however I can do it but I do listen to K-Love it's a radio station it's contemporary Christian music I have it playing in my house 24/7 even when I'm not here is playing and also have it playing in the garage so it's like I feel I'm blessing my home when I'm here and when I'm away and it's not super loud it's only playing from one room but I can hear it in any room I'm in and it doesn't bother me when I go to sleep or turn the TV on and if I decide to go in my office and do some PC gaming I just slightly turn it down I do love the way you organize it's giving me some tips now I just have to get off my butt and attempt to try them LOL and continue having a blessed day with many more to come

You could take down the paper towel holder and put up a few hand towel holders. You could have at least two where the paper towel holder is and two more where the wash cloth dispenser is. (my husband and I think that is such a clever idea btw) You would save so much money on paper towels, not the mention waste, and you could use paper towel bins to store other things you need. I was amazed at how neat and organized your shower was and I like the cabinet idea. Why do you have carpet in the bathroom as opposed to tile or linoleum? My dad used to have carpet in his bathroom, but replaced it because it was always getting mildew/mold and just didn't hold up well. Tile and linoleum are so much easier to clean.

I would love to play an audio bible but most of the time I can't even play music because it's gets to be "one more noise" to me. My 5 get loud in our small house. I have a harder time with noise personally. Mine are younger though. 8 and under. Do your kids get that loud or maybe having something on calms them more?
@TheMillsFamilyVlog
@TheMillsFamilyVlog 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, my kids can be super loud! I can totally relate. (My oldest had just turned 8 when my 5th was born.) I never listen to anything in the car because (especially when I'm alone) it's like a little brain vacation. :) Something I learned from a book by Adelle Davis is that being particularly irritated by noise can be a sign of magnesium deficiency. When I read it, it struck a chord with me because I had many times where just the sounds of their little voices would feel like they were grating on my nerves. It turns out they _were_ grating on my nerves. :) I didn't feel like taking hard magnesium tablets did anything, but the kind from Twinlab that's loose powder in a capsule seems to work well. There are also a lot of different magnesium drink mixes that work nicely, too. I still have my moments when I have to send everyone outside before I go crazy, but it's not like before I started taking magnesium. (The drinks are called things like Natura-Calm or Stress-Ease for a reason!)
@tigersgirl3
@tigersgirl3 7 жыл бұрын
Andrea Mills yes. thank you. magnesium does help a lot. I have had to take care of lots of health problems but have taken so many different remedies I might not know exactly which one did the trick for that symptom. It is much easier to handle things. I liked the calm stuff. tastes good too.

Have you thought about letting the kids have a mesh shower caddy to take to the bathroom. My husband and I do that with our 5 boys each has a mesh shower caddy that is marked with duck tape that corresponds to the child and they take it from the side of their bed that it hangs and then they go to get their clothes for the day and take them to the bathroom. They also have a laundry basket inside their room. Each child also has their own dirty clothes "mini-hamper, it's a small storage basket. When the person is done getting dressed they take their "mini-dirty clothes hamper and place the contents into the dirty clothes in the room. We also have it where each child has 8 towels in their color, and their own cubby in the hallway. We only have a 3 bed room 2 bath one of the bedrooms was converted into a walk in laundry room.

Wow, 1 bathroom for 10 people is HARD. I applaud you for making it work! Nice job! We don't have any more in diapers (at least for now), so we have 8 using toilets. We have 3 bathrooms in this house, but we are all currently using 1 because both of the other toilets have cracks. BOO! However, we go camping a lot and are actually planning to be off-grid when we move, so we have buckets and wood chips when more than one person has to go at once. (It also helps that 5 in our family are males and we live in the country. lol) Anyway, it's really not gross at all. I actually prefer it, to be honest, and one of the guys dumps and cleans it out when it gets full. Gotta love our men. :) Here's a short video on my other channel that shows an example of a nicely built-in composting toilet.....just a bucket with a wood frame around it. Cedar chips make the whole area smell so nice, you'd never know anything foul was in there! Haha! kzbin.info/www/bejne/paargXaHibKZgq8

I am just so sad she is gone, not just for me, her kids & Tom... I have 5 and just, ache for them... I am very creative, but she helps give me new creative ideas! Also I found storing toothbrushes in bedrooms and using homemade safe to swallow toothpaste keeps toothbrushes out of the bathroom! We had a one bathroom house for a while and it was only a shower, so I used a storage bin for a bath for the little kids. But we made the bathroom rule that it is ONLY for going potty, bathing or washing hands! Freed up so much traffic!

Several homes that belong to some of my extended family have carpet in both bathrooms and kitchens. I'm also not a big fan, but Tom loved it when he saw it and wanted it in our bathroom. Before we replaced our furnace in preparation of building our boys' bedroom we didn't have a heat source in the bathroom. It made it so much warmer walking on carpet!

Andrea Mills Wow, I bet! I know they make heated floors now but that is probably more money than it's worth. I've never heard of carpet in a kitchen, how interesting! I wonder if there was just a certain period in time where that style was popular to put in houses.

Would you ever want to move to a bigger house
@TheMillsFamilyVlog
@TheMillsFamilyVlog 8 жыл бұрын
I probably wouldn't want to move. Tom and I have lived here our entire marriage and we've put so much effort into fixing it up... and 3 of our children were born in this house... it's home. I would be happy to add on to make this house bigger, but only when we can do it without borrowing a lot of money.

GuerinGrad09 Well I know in my state Wa. the tax rate of your home property taxes very much is affected by the value of your home so every Improvement we did cement work, out buildings, put a fence in, adding on to the house exc, exc, every home inprovment that adds value to your home or property how ever small or large that one does adds to the cost of our property taxes so I don't know where you get that it does not add to the tax base because in my view sadly it very much does indeed!!

When we got married Tom wanted 2 children and I wanted 6. We joke that we had 2 for him and then we had 6 more for me. Clearly hearts have changed and I expect that there will be more Mills babies in the future, Lord willing.

Maybe you could find a spot outside of the bathroom to put in a sink/vanity mirror where people could brush their teeth, wash their face and do their hair so the bathroom isn't so packed in the A.M. I know having a sink outside of the bathroom is inconvenient but that's how they used to be and are in lots of hotel rooms.

it would probably be more enviromentally friendly and maybe cheaper to use hand towels instead of paper towels but whatever you prefer I guess

hand towels can harvest alot of bacteria especially with such a large family. paper towels are actually the safest way to go. sorry don't mean to speak for Andrea that is just what I think.
