Yeh, not sure, my feeling is that they should be full width of the cell? Not sure will have to take a look at a few more of you videos to see how they do it. That said there appears to be enough space for the cells to move naturally so I think i'll be fine.

I've seen a lot of tear-downs and this battery is impressive. I wouldn't worry about the missing spacers - there are enough in the pack to compensate, but the manufacturer should send you some to make it good. Nice to see you looking like a kid whose Christmases all came at once!

It's amazing that in our current technology advancement in connector types that companies "still" only provide an RS232 to Serial, instead of just putting, or adding, a standard USB connection. As much as these things cost, they could add an extra $1 to each one and be making profit on that dedicated port 🙄🙄

I would argue that serial is significantly easier to integrate with. I don't see any problem with providing a serial port then using a USB to Serial adapter. In fact, I prefer it that way. USB is constantly changing it seems whereas serial remains... serial.

Yeh... :( I'm not experienced to know what difference i'll make, if it was in a car or motor home where it was subject to movement might be an issue, but stationary storage shouldn't imagine it would even matter as long as there was the right amount of room for the batteries to naturally breath so to speak

No insulators isn't really a little thing - it's a pretty big issue as the positive is connected to the case by the electrolyte. Also, no insulation one the vertical (down the middle) of all the cells is a pretty big deal too. I do like that it has been built with busbars and nuts rather than welded... much better for servicing/repair if you have a bad cell years down the line.

Ordered the sticky foam stuff today to fix that up. I do like the ability to service the battery with out needing expensive tools. No weird nuts or bolts needing a special tool. Just a 1/2' socket and a Phillips screw driver & snippy tool and your good.

Yea, I'd say someone on the assembly line messed up. Perhaps they were substituting a cell as they installed it and it came from the pile that didn't yet have the insulators. I agree, Orient Power still seems to have great packs.

I believe these are the same as the jakiper 48v 100 ah server rack batteries in the later "Pro" form bubin a different case and oriented vertically instead of horizontally - great if you want to save floor space. I believe these can now be purchased in Australia. Thinking about a similar sized diy battery but more expensive in Australia with an inferior BMS, so thos looks like a better bet.

Yes Jakiper was one of the first to put 16 cells in a box with a Pace style BMS. Crazy to think 2-3 years ago none of this really existed and people were rigging up scrap wood and threaded rod to compress some cells and maybe throw some acrylic over the top to protect the terminals.

Good job, nice review, & good to see ya get in there. Overall a nice build, I expect the missing foam to be a QC issue. Woulda liked to see a test on a more suspect cell or 2, but that was good and they are relatively fresh EVE cells as per their date of manufacture, so that is good also. Im curious of how this one balances & would be keen to see some more tests of the BMS & cell voltages as they charge & balance, Im guessing that they are a passive type balancer but probly work ok. Id like to see ya give it a bit more of a workout, It is very aesthetic, looks like a decent BMS, build & EVE cells at a reasonable price point, I like it, should be a winner. Cheers

It's not even a suspect cell, it's within 1% of all the others. What I'd like to do now is monitor charing it and see how fast that BMS can account for the one cell I tested and now it's at a different voltage. Also hook up batrium shunt and do an outside test of capacity.

I think I would go one of these Growatt SPF 3000TL ebay.us/aPMOF1 + one battery and 3kw of solar and you have a cheap useable solution. 2600aud battery, 700aud inverter, 100 bucks in cables and fittings, likley get solar for a few hundred bucks $3500aud and you've got a on/off grid setup that'll last many many years

Hi, awesome review, I'm starting to like this battery more and more. I would like to ask if it would be possible to use the battery in an upside-down position for a small portable solar system. (For example, on the hand truck) This battery would be placed at the bottom and above it All-In-One Inverter. This battery would be rotated by rotated 180degree under All-In-One inverter. Rotated 180degree, because the connections between the All-In-One inverter and the Rotated battery they would be nice close to each other this way. Probably this should be possible as the battery cells are solidly secured position inside, but then is it possible to rotate the LCD display 180degree in it as well? I'm not asking for a rear mount this, can definitely be sorted out, there's plenty of steel there. Thank you for your answer, best regards. Tibor (Czech Republic)

I would say you 'could' but would need to loosen all the busbar nuts and let it settle the opposite direction I would say. I wonder if you could even have enough length in the cables to mount the front face upside down!

All - is a VERY braud call.. 48v is very DIY friendly 400v is ouchy with even more ouchy on the wallet when you reach for it..

@@HBPowerwall DIY - yes... modern solar inverters are huawei, sungrow, fronius and other "hybrid" type ones. They have an integrated bidirectional DC/AC for direct battery connection, also bidirectional grid connection. They are dirt cheap, 10kW at $1800, it's not worth DIYing anything. I'm a DIYer, converting my car to electric now, but in this case is much easier and cheaper to just buy. Also the cost of battery, 48V vs. High voltage is virtually the same $/kWh wise. The only difference may be the BMS, which is very small in mass production.

Loosen up the nuts and push the Batterys the bus bars have some play and start from the bottom and work your way up that will make them nice and snug

@@HBPowerwall snug because if thay try and swell the chances are thay will not bulk out if thay are snug because thay are prismatic cells the bms sould take care of them and not allow them to over charge snug is better see if you can find some thin insulation fome to put on the ones that don't have any insulation un loosen the nuts and push them down and one by one titan the bus bars up it should be good to close the gap

Pete, as impressive as the battery is, the cell mounting is a big issue due to the orientation of the battery being mounted on the wall. There is no excuse why those cells cannot have a full height of padding material between each individual cell, the cost of the padding material is a few cents in the dollar. As u can see by the battery that the quality assurance checks are not done thoroughly and will lead to many problems in the future as there is not company warehouse in Australia and where the customers will be forced to pay for shipping on warranty repairs and that is a massive deal breaker for me cos it will get very expensive and when shit hits the fan and shipping routes may not exist anymore due to conflict escalations and u r left with a paperweight. Now u need to press the company on Quality Assurance Inspections, cos we aussies are sick of this shit they (the chinese) have been supplying to use over MANY decades, not even Japanese made tech has never been as bad as what the chinese have built in our lifetime. Anyway i hope the feedback to u will bring some better quality and expectations in this product lines, BTW also impress on the company about an EMP design built system/model variance for those who want that option.

You sound like not happy one ! You can buy in Australia for 5times more that price. I know people who have had problem with super duper pylon tech batteries big times . Those prismatic cells are moch better and tougher than pylontech pouches batteries like kind you have in your phone when is used and not holding a charge it swollen up like my Tommy after curry. Just because people don’t have options and buying pylontech batteries that’s not mean they are good batteries. And 5kwh battery compared to other 5kwh battery is not the same. You can make 5kwh battery with 18650 cells half the size and weight but it will be any better? I don’t think so
