This is an awesome build, I think the hinge caps being a matching red to the triggers would have given it a nice touch! in my opinion

Best Channel, have built a bunch of different gameboys by now and all of your videos are miles clearer than others out there and helped me do so. Thanks for the help and content!

Definitely agree that the screen cover was a pain in the ass. And then after I had everything lined up clean and installed, I realized I preferred it without that lens anyways
@JoeBleeps4 ай бұрын
Haha isn't that always the way!

I always mark the hinges with a pencil before removing them. This way they can easily be installed exactly the way they were, no matter whether the console is opened or closed while pushing them in.

How do you mark them?

Be careful with the volume slider. Just because the kit comes with a replacement doesn’t mean the original is able to come off. Now I have a broken volume slider.
@JoeBleeps4 ай бұрын
@@kensprivateinvestigation2128 ohhh I'm sorry to hear that. It's happened to me before, there are different models, some can have the slider removed, others can't. Apologies if I didn't mention it here.

Hi Joe, I love your videos, they are awesome. I most recently upgraded my GBC with the AMOLED Oled screen with the help of your video. But my question i have for you is, will the IPS screen simply drop into my original shell on my Game Boy Advance SP?? or do i need to buy a Pre Cut Housing Shell like i did when i was upgrading my GBC.
@Pla_nic9 ай бұрын
very beautiful, but it would be better without that text on the display...

You mean the GBA logo?
@Pla_nic9 ай бұрын
@@JoeBleeps no, i mean “Dot matrix with stereo sound”. “Nintendo GAMEBOY” would look better. Anyway, I ordered one yesterday…also IPS display with Super Famicon shell is comming, but after I saw this video, I will definitely use this one.

@@Pla_nic ahh I see. Agreed. And put the dot matrix bit on the screen protector

I hate to say it, but if you want those OG GameBoy games to look authentic you’re gonna be using the green color for the screen.
@JoeBleeps8 ай бұрын
Indeed. Unless you're going for the game boy pocket style but even then, that's a slight green tint too
