In '69 took a used '68 Charger in that gorgeous metallic turquoise color home to my Mom to see if she wanted it, but Dad said too much $$$$... it had white top and white interior! 318, 2 bbl., automatic... $2595... only thing I didn't like was those '68 seats 02:15 that looked like they had been sliced open by a knife...

@barfoonisland2003 I get your sentiment,,, but I have a 1971 Challenger convertible with a 440 and compared to my 2013 Challenger with a 3.6L,,,, the old stuff sounds and runs better in a straight line,,, but beyond that,,, the new stuff is WAY better handling, way better NVH, and economy is simply no comparison.... so, I WISH they would go back and do a modern copy of the 68 Chargers like they did the Challenger and we'd be living the dream!

actually the opposite is true. cars in the 60's and 70's were worn out by 100k if you were lucky. they rattled, rotted, burned oil and leaked water around the windows, got crappy gas mileage and were death traps. i'm not familiar with the chargers of the era but the camaros, gto's, chevelles, etc were pretty junky after only a few years. they rode and handled pretty poorly and as for performance, todays 6 cylinders would beat a lot of those v8's. but the styling of that era was awesome and you could sleep in the back seat.

Absolutely gorgeous. I love it. In 1969 I was 22 and bought a new Chevelle SS 396, black vinyl roof, Le Mans Blue, 4 speed. It was my pride and joy. This beautiful Charger is a close color match. I wasn't smart like you. I sold it in 1975. I sure wish I had it back for shows.

In the summer of 1969, fresh out of high school, I nearly bought a used '66 Charger as transportation to my first full-time job. My dad loaned me the money and signed for the car. All I remember about the test drive was that it had one of those sliding, thermometer-style speedometers. I ended up buying a '65 Corvair, of all things.

@@DezzysSpeedShop That speedometer type is most often called a "ribbon speedometer". I just looked it up. Oddly, none of the Chargers had that type. I just looked that up too. Anyway, it makes me wonder what other car I was looking at those many years ago that had that type speedometer. I know I gave consideration to a Charger, and I bought the Corvair. Must have been another car in the mix in that car lot. The Corvair served me fairly faithfully for a couple of years when money was hard to come by.

Thanks for posting that, I thought the engine was a 426 hemi. The 440.big block was a dynamite engine, both the 426 hemi and 440 engines that Dodge ever produced.

When I was in high school. (1976) .One of my friends had a 1968 ,383 super bee .. it was orange on black interior. We would drive around all weekend. lol Those were the days. I had a 1968 , 289 pony mustang.

Looks just like my first car after graduating high school in 78!! Bought a 68 charger with the 383 and all the goodies!! Interior looks exactly like the one I had but mine was red with the black vinyl top!! Boy if that car could talk the stories it would tell !! Lots of back seat boogie, quarter mile strip racing, keg party's , fastest I ever went in a car was 135 in my 68 charger!! Wish I kept her with what they are going for nowadays!!

This car originally had A/C; however the compressor and associated components are missing. Note the dashboard vents, which were only provided on air conditioned cars.

The color code for the car is LL1 Medium Dark Turquoise. I have the original build sheets along with all other original paperwork. The only thing that was not kept was the original window sticker. It is an original AC car but while driving it when I was 16 in the mid 80's the AC compressor seized while driving throwing sparks everywhere. Had to remove the belts driving the compressor to get it home. The AC unit has been removed since then.

As a 17 year old in 1975, my first car was a 1969 Dodge Charger 383 Magnum. White with a dark green vinyl top and matching green interior. I paid $1,200 for it. I owned it for a year and a half and sold it in June of 1976 for $1,000. I still have the sales receipt and the spread sheet. Selling that car was the biggest mistake of my life.

Lady down the street about 62 because she had just retired from the State, bought the Plymouth and ran it at the drag strip on weekends, during the week she worked on the car to make it faster, lady was a kick.😅😅

I grew up in Buffalo. These cars rusted terribly. The quarter panels at the bottom and around the hood and under the landau material. But, we loved them. I was just a kid at the time.

Beautiful Charger. I had a 69' R/T in bright red with a black vinyl roof and interior. I really miss it sometimes but I still love the 68''s the most.
