Thanks for entertaining us over the Years🙋🏾♀️
I’m Mexican, came to the US when I was 6/7 at around 9 (year 88) we started watching soul train. We grew up in South Central, went to Ascot Ave. Elm., Carver Jr. (too) and Jefferson. Black culture was normal to us and we picked it up fast, Every Saturday morning my sister and I watched it and she learned to battle dance or for the fashion. I wanted to hear the popular music and we had a good time with it. Man this brings back so many good memories, good times. Being from South Central we picked up accents that were not favorable in our culture but we saw no barriers. Thank you Soul Train.

Eveybody talk about what Don Cornelius should have done. The business was not the dancers, it was the image. The image lasted longer than the dancers!!!

American Bandstand featuring Dick Clark didn't pay their dancers either. I don't think non of those other dance shows paid their dancers.

I believe in that principle. I'm sure they had a good time, but Soul Train wouldn't have been a thing without those incredible dancers. They were making a lot of money for the show. Who was living good from all that money? Not the kids. They got payed in chicken. Those kids influenced the world of dancing and fashion and personality and they were payed in fried chicken. I will always have love for the show and especially for Don Cornelius but those kids made that whole show. Where else were they supposed to go to get noticed? It's not like Nickelodeon was hiring Black and Asian kids lol! I admit, I would have loved to see Shaba doo on Hey Dude.

@@basquait1 The business was the dancers, the singers, the host, the camera's, the set designers and costumers. Some of the dancers dressed themselves. Every element of the show made Soul Train work.
