Classic SpongeBob SquarePants backgrounds have been cut up to be sold for small profits online. Animation art should always be preserved and respected for as long as possible, but it's not good practice to defile original SpongeBob works in this way. Now what?

It depends. If it is heavily damaged by something like Mold and is threatened to be destroyed by it completely and/or is a Health Risk because of that, it's ok. If it is just a bit wavy from Water Damage, it should be kept as it is, as long as it was able to dry properly. Should also stay as it is if it's just a bit bleached out or something similar
