@@Jackbws Yes and no, Revan was trapped within the Sith Emperor or well actually apart of Revan was and when the Emperor was defeated by the Jedi Knight the side of Revan which was trapped by the Emperor escapes taking form but again it's only one half of Revan his dark side his other half is dead but is apart of the force and takes form as a force ghost. Until his defeat by the task force of Republic and Sith on Yavin IV then both halves become whole however he is dead and now apart of the force fully. The events in the game takes place 3-4 hundreds years after the events of Darth Revan and his Empire.

Satele Shan is using Tutemenis. Its the ability Yoda used to deflect dooku's force lightning. This was a much more concentrated version that let her temporarily reflect the lightsabers energy.

I can help answer some of those questions! The bald dude is Darth Malgus, who I believe Vader actually studied - though that might've been from a Legends comic. We sort of follow his backstory throughout all the cinematics, aside from the Eternal/Fallen Empire ones. The way the girl, Satele, catches his lightsaber with her hand is by using the Force Absorbtion technique - the same one you see Yoda use to catch Dooku's Force Lightning in Episode 2, for instance. The other dude you asked about is in this scenario "just another Sith". No one in particular, just a cool outfit they designed (undoubtedly inspired by Revan's look) for your typical Sith Warrior. You see more of them in another cinematic. And some bonus info that might help clear things up a bit more for you: There's a 300 year difference between the titles Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Star Wars: The Old Republic. The first is an old singleplayer RPG from 2003, which has a big focus point on Darth Revan. The second is an MMO like World of Warcraft from 2011, though online multiplayer as it is, it is still very much story driven and can easily be played on your own. And these games take place approximately 4000-3600 years before A New Hope. I personally have very much enjoyed playing both of them, and I'm not really a multiplayer gamer. These cinematics are for the MMO game from 2011. Would love to see you play either, or both, of them!

Surges makes a good point with his comment below though, in that this depicts The Old Republic versus the Sith Empire - not to be confused with the Galactic Empire we know from the Original Trilogy. Very different empires. The Sith Empire has a long history, much farther back in time than here, but by the time where the MMO starts its timeline it was thought the Sith and their Empire had been destroyed for good over 1000 years ago. There were some admittedly rather big Sith goings on during KOTOR, only 300 years before the MMO, but not exactly an empire with an established power structure and an emperor and things like that - even if they did call it their own little empire. So you can imagine everyone's surprise when the full might of an actual empire, that's just been building up for 1000 years, floods into the known galaxy from out of nowhere and in one fell swoop retakes their ancient homeworld and quickly conquers large parts of the outer rim. There is a whole story that takes place after the events of KOTOR that focuses on this Empire, hiding in the shadows of the galaxy, unknown to everyone, that really binds KOTOR and the MMO together extremely nicely, despite the 300 year gap. Unfortunately, that story is not really told in any of the games. A specific optional event in the MMO talks a bit about it, and there is some dialogue on exactly that story in KOTOR 2 that help fill in some gaps, but we don't get the whole story anywhere, really. Not without looking it up. At least, not to my knowledge. But enough of my nerding. TL;DR is - Sith Empire is a very different beast from the Galactic Empire we know from the movies. - It has a long and intricate history, thought to be destroyed but surprised everyone when it wasn't - There's a really cool story that ties the old singleplayer RPG together with the later MMO super neatly - not recommended to look up before you've played at least the old RPG

as already mentioned here, the technique she used to stop the lightsaber with her hand is called tutaminis. The second interesting fact is that as she absorbed a large quantity of (lighsaber) energy from it, she immediately releases it by creating a "force field" on the soldier to protect him from the grenade blast. (you can actually see that the blast is blue due to her protective field, rather then the usual grenade explosion, that has partially hit the sith as she focused the protective field on the soldier instead)

I'd highly recommend rewatching it with a look to the background actions. If you go back to around 5:08 or so, when the Jedi arrives and starts rushing the enemy, you see a trooper saving her from being shot, showing an acute awareness to how everything is in motion ^^

What you are referring to as "The old republic" are the games "Knights of the old republic I+II". The game "The old republic" is an MMORPG. I really love the game and think it´s worth playing. The base game is free-to-play and if you like it, then one 60 days premium playtime-card will grant you access to all the add-ons (you´ll still be able to play them after those 60 days). Eight different class stories plus all the add-ons should keep you busy for at least 300 hours and even way more if you don´t skip events, side-quests etc... And like 95% of the dialogues have voice acting which is quite cool for an MMORPG.

Interesting fact Revens helmet is in fact a mandolorian helmet taken from a mandalorian who attempted to stop his people from commiting genocide and Reven swore to never remove the mask till they were avenged. Also there used to be a vast variaty of force powers that were tied to bloodlines one of which could stop a lightsaber with bare skin (albeit temprorely), and lightsabers as a whole (although still broken af) were alot weaker due to different more accessable crystals.

The Old Republic takes place a few hundred years after the events of both KOTOR games. The girl you saw is called Satele Shan, who is a descendant of Bastila Shan. According to 'Legends' (although, I do consider them part of the current canon as well since both KOTOR games take place 1000's of years before the events of the movies and tv shows), Revan (*spoiler* your main character) and Bastila fell in love during the course of the first KOTOR game. It is also implied by other material that they started a family together at some point...

I’m kinda late to the party but Satele Shan was the jedi. That force push at the end was just that. Her abilities with the force were literally that powerful to the point where you can see the living force active. She became a Grand Master of the Republic and arguably the most powerful next to Yoda. They’re often compared to eachother but for me it’s a completely unfair comparison. Satele was the literal definition of Jedi Warrior because her whole jedi career she was just fighting a huge war while Yoda for most his life was a diplomat, who’s only real great war (to my knowledge) was the Clone Wars. Satele is my all time favorite Jedi, she is the descendant of Revan and Bastila, making her extremely powerful with the force

Considering his lineage, having a legendary Jedi-turned-Sith-turned-Jedi-again ancestor, the other ancestor being a powerful Jedi in her own right, and his own mother being a Jedi Grandmaster, and having a damn Republican war hero commander as a father, who - together with his mother (who was not yet a Grandmaster at the time) - went at one of the most feared Sith Lords of the time (who had killed his mother's master, who was the frigging Battlemaster of the Jedi Order), detonating a thermal detonator right in his face, I'd say their son is pretty much a letdown. It's pretty heavy pressure to live up to such a lineage.

Revan's main story and lore is set around 300 years before the events of the Old Republic MMO (which is the time period of this video), and the MMO's setting is set 3000 years before the events of the prequal trilogy, for further context. I say "main" lore for Revan because the MMO does expand upon him within the game, mainly how his legacy is taught, maintained, and in some way still influences the galaxy all those centuries later. The last 2 trailers show the invasion of the Eternal/Zakuul Empire Short Explanations: Galactic Republic (Old Republic): established 25000 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin IV); it’s basically the same Republic that exists in the movies, just 3600+ years later; eventually overthrown by Palpatine and turned into the Galactic Empire Sith-Empire: NOT the same as the Galactic Empire; established on Dromund Kaas ~5000 BBY after the mass extermination of the red-skinned Sith species at the end of the Great Hyperspace War. Spent most of its lifetime in hiding, building up it’s strength. The leader is „The Sith-Emperor“ Tenebrae/Darth Vitiate. Vitiate manipulated Revan and turned him to the dark side (~3959 BBY). Starts its attack on the GR in 3681 BBY. Th Great Galactic War ends 3653 BBY with the sacking of Coruscant lead by Darth Malgus (the bald guy). Zakuul Empire: established on Zakuul by Darth Vitiate, now known as „Valkorion“, after he gave up on the Sith-Empire and decided to build up a new Empire from scratch. There is a force technique called Force Absorb. It is the same technique Vader uses to catch a blaster bolt, and Yoda uses to absorb force lightning. She basically absorbs the energy of the sword before it stabs her. That blast is Force Blast, which is basically just a stronger Force Push.

Definitely worth playing, I still love it after 9 years of playing. The soldier is Jace Malcolm, leader of Havoc Squad (the elite unit of the republic military). The jedi lady is Satele Shan, descendant of Revan and Bastila Shan and later grand Master of the jedi order. The bald sith is Darth Malgus, he later wears a mask to cover the burns on his lower face so maybe you have seen him already just not without the mask. The sith with the mask is an ordinary sith warrior, the mask is just part of their outfit. He is nothing special and has nothing to do with Revan.

Definite props to the Republic soldiers in this game, charging entire companies of Sith lords, without even gas or incendiaries (that bounty hunters typically use to take Jedi down). The 'Return' trailer is good, you see Darth Malgus (the bald guy) and his master Darth Vindican. Not played SWTOR in a while, but the game is largely free-to-play now (with paid subscription perks), there's also an entire expansion dedicated to Revan, and a bunch of lore in the earlier story :)

The mask is based on Reven's mask as a kind of middle finger to Reven by the Sith Emperor if I'm not mistaken. Reven had gone out into the Unknown Regions after the Mandalorian Wars and was captured and (essentially) brainwashed by the Sith Emperor before the events of the first KOTOR game. After the game, Reven recovered his real memories and went back to challenge the Emperor again, thinking he was now stronger and better prepared. Instead he was captured again and put into stasis and the events of the Old Republic game are essentially the Emperor's reposte. Late in the Old Republic game, you can go on a mission to save Reven and release him. On a related note, the girl is Satele Shan and she is the granddaughter of Bastilla Shan and Reven from the first KOTOR game. She was able to block the lightsaber using a technique called tuttemimus, which allows the user to absorb/redirect energy including balster bolts, force lightning and lightsabers. It is a fairly uncommon ability and it is also a hard technique to learn since one slip could mean the user's life.

So as many have pointed out, the time period for this trailer is approximately one generation after the events set in the single player KOTOR I and II series. Darth Revan and Bastille Shan got married and had Satele Shan (the female Jedi). The trooper who is narrating and went hand to hand with the Sith Lord (Darth Malgus) is Jace Malcom. The EU legends universe set up before the Disney acquisition is extremely well developed and information dense. Given the power creep of Bastille and the sheer raw Force power and skill of Revan, the abilities of Satele aren't surprising. Also, a lot of the Old Republic era legends books and media show Jedi and Sith abilities and powers that are essentially "lost" by the time we see the prequel trilogy movies.

The 'Empire' that is referred to is the old Sith Empire. The bald guy is Darth Malgeius. The masked guy is just a sith warrior. The republic trooper that is seen without a helmet is Jace Malcolm, he later becomes the supreme commander of the republic military. Keep in mind this is when the republic still had a standing military and not the individual security forces we see in the prequels. The Jedi is Satele Shan. She later goes on to be the grandmaster of the Jedi Order. She also marries Malcolm. Malgeius killed her master so she kinda has a bone to pick with him. Blocking a lightsaber with nothing but your hands is a force technique but it is extremely advanced and requires significant skill. The only other person we know of who pulled it off is Koran Horn, a member of Luke Skywalker's Jedi Order in the legends version of the New Republic.

Ok Im maybe a little late but I wanna clear up a few things. Revan is a very difficult topic that could alone fill novels though he has a lot of influence here, I believe he is at that point still on dromund Kaas being tortured by the emperor. The bald guy is Darth malgus probably the best swordfighter of the sith and a brilliant yet cruel general. This battle took place after the sith emperor Vitiate or Tenebrae whatever name you prefer, who's story again could fill a novel, started his war against the Republic which was wildly underprepared. But shown by battles like this the Republic troops are far more determined. This went then so far that to bring a peace treaty that is lucrative for the sith empire the dark council offered the Republic peace but while they were discussing the terms and the fleet was busy protecting the negotiators malgus and his troops attacked and ransacked corussant, destroyed the jedi temple and basically held the planet hostage to get better terms. If you want to know about Revan I can help. He was believed to be a chosen one before the chosen one. He was an apprentice during Mandalorian civil wars. This was when Mandalorians were like Vikings and raided, only they did whole worlds. The Jedi council decided not to intervene in the war but Revan would not stand it. He and other loyal Jedi padawans left the Jedi to go and fight the wars. In one of his first battles, Revan picked up and used the mask of a female Mandalorian warrior. From then on, he became Revan. He attained the title. He would find out the war was orchestrated by the sixth emperor after he whispered these violent acts in the mind of the mandalorian leader, Mandalore The Ultimate, who Revan beat in single combat. Revan and his best friend Allak would venture into the sith system as a strike force to go and kill the emperor, but the closer they got, the more they were tainted by the dark side. They became sith. They returned to the core worlds as the new leaders of the sith army. During this time, they found the location of a star forge. An ancient alien artifact that was able to turn matter into weapons and fleets. Using it, Revan and his friend, now named Malak, abandoned the sith to create their own faction. Revan was betrayed by his apprentice Mallak one fight when a Jedi strike team boarded Revans cruisers in the attempt to silence him. Mallak saw the opportunity and fired upon his master, now claiming the title of lord of the sith. Revan was saved by his would be wife Bastilla. She helped him become a Jedi once more, had to be saved by Revan after being captured and tainted by the dark side. Revan destroyed the star forge and killed Mallak, bringing peace. Soon tho he would inquire to his venture against the sith emperor and decided to investigate. He was captured by the sith and requested help from one Sith Lord who was already weary of the emperor, Lord Scourge, and an old Jedi friend, Meetra Surik. The two would save and free revan only to engage the emperor once again. Scourge realized the emperor could not be killed and killed Surik whilst Revan was again taken prisoner. However, this was the plan. For the next 300-500 years, Revan’s life was drained but was also able to use this link to the Emperor from stopping him from continuing the Jedi and Sith war. A sacrifice. His story continues in SWTOR The masked guy is just a sith acolyte The woman’s name is Satele Shan. Descendant of Revan and Bastila Shan. regarding her stopping the saber with her bare hands; in Empire Strikes Back (spoiler alert in case ou haven't seen it) - Vader was able to catch Han Solo's blaster bolts in his ~bare hands and suffer no observable ill effects. I'm guessing that's what she was doing there. Soldier guy probably used some kind of flash-bang type deal.

To answer your questions the bald dude is darth malgus. His name is said in another one of these trailers. I would recommend all of them. Next the guy in the mask is just one of the sith with Malgus. I don’t think it’s revan. If you look closely a lot of the sith on the battlefield have the same mask. Lastly the way the girl was blocking the lightsaber is a force power. Not a lot of people have the gift. There is an arc in the clone wars animated series, which is canon, about Mortis. There are three beings that are deeply connected to the force and the father used this force power the block a lightsaber and actually turn it off with just the force.

The Old Republic takes place about 3,600 years before the movies, in the old pre-Disney "Legends" timeline. Throughout galactic history in Legends there were a number of iterations of "the Empire". The history here is incredibly complex, and I'll do my best to simplify it, but no matter what I'm going to have to cut out some important information and context otherwise I'd have to write an entire novel to explain it all. The original Sith Empire in Legends was established about 6,900 years (nice) before the films, when a group of Jedi were exiled from the order into the far reaches of space. They ended up on a planet called Korriban, inhabited by a race of red-skinned reptilian humanoids called the Sith. These dark Jedi exiles enslaved the Sith and declared themselves the "Dark Lords of the Sith" (hence the title used by later Sith Lords), and established the original Sith Empire. Eventually the dark Jedi who comprised the original Dark Lords of the Sith would destroy each other through bickering and in-fighting, and the leadership of the Sith Empire would end up in the hands of actual members of the Sith species, who were naturally Force-sensitive and some of whom had previously been trained in the ways of the dark side by the exiles. Eventually, about 5,000 years before the movies, the Sith Empire, under the leadership of the Dark Lord Naga Sadow, would take their small regional empire and attempt to wrest control of the galaxy away from the Old Republic in what became the Great Hyperspace War. Baldy is Darth Malgus, one of the biggest bads in the series. The masks are designed in emulation of Darth Revan, which is actually ironic as his mask wasn't his own but was actually a battle trophy taken from his most hated enemy. The technique she used is called tuteminis and it is basically an anti-energy force power. It is used to fight things like sith lightning, blaster bolts, flame throwers, and yes even lightsabers. The thing is though it's not passive and the more continuous and powerful the source the harder it is to do. Deflecting a glancing blow from a lightsaber is a master level feat just because of how powerful they are, so you can imagine just how much focus and power it takes to counter someone continually trying to run you through with one. She is canonically one of the most powerful Jedi alive during that time and quite possibly the only one that could have pulled it off.

to answer the question about her = she is actualy a force master meaning she has access to force powers unique to her namly a shield that wards off light sabers and a blast that has the same punch as lightning both are incredibly taxing though she explains that in game and a few books do as well she used a dual staff because whel she is good and at master level with a saber she is limited in physical ability without force enhancement so she uses a weapon that allows her minimal physical focus leting her use more of her over all ability without exhaustion shes a very techical master. the move she used was an advanced version of the force push and the wave added to it was her personal skill firing an explosive wave of force energy not unlike a bomb. and yes there are dark sided versions to her skills typically used by assassins.

Also one thing to note is during the old republic there were tens of thousands of both Jedi and Sith which this conflict last I believe 2000 years(not continuously but more like rounds). It wasn’t until 1000 years before the battle of Yavin in new hope were Darth Bane created the rule of two for the Sith were he basically killed all Sith until it was just him and a apprentice of his choosing.

The force power she is using is an advanced version of Force Deflect, we actually see Darth Vader use that power in Empire when he deflects Han Solos blaster bolt with his hand. This advanced power used by force users could temporarily hold a lightsaber at bay, however it could not be done indefinitely it only lasted a few seconds.

It effectively absorbs the energy of a blaster bolt, force lightning, or even a lightsaber blade for those very strong in the force. The girl using it is Satele Shan, who is a knight in this trailer, but becomes Grand Master of the Jedi Order by the time of the game, and a descendent of Darth Revan and Bastila Shan. The dude is a generic Sith. Sith armor often incorporates masks as a form of intimidation, and to create fear since they can use that fear to give themselves more power. Revan’s mask was specifically Mandalorian, while this one is just a Sith trying to get extra protection and create a frightening aura. The bald guy is another powerful Sith named Darth Malgus, a powerful and recurring Sith in the trailers, which take place over roughly 30 years during a war between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic. The Old Republic takes place 300 years after the time of Revan. The Old Republic is still a fun game that I’d recommend! It can get a bit tedious at times, but the story is intense and amazing!

Revan is a huge character in the Old Republic. At this time the Mandolorian Wars were waging across the Galaxy. The Mandolorians being a warrior race wanted to prove themselves against the most powerful group, and this happened to be the Galactic Republic. And they Fucked Shit up. Glassed planets with orbital bombardment, mass civilian casualties, nothing was sacred to them so long as they won. The Republic knew they were losing, so they asked the Jedi for help. They responded with... “Piss off.” Not really, they were much more humble about it, but they did not want to be in a war that they deemed was unnecessary. This pissed Revan off. They were supposed to be Galactic Guardians, but when it needs their help, the council will just let it burn. So Revan gathered any supporters that agreed with him, and went to war. The council didn’t like that, and called for Revan’s, and his factions execution. They almost succeeded, but before they could finish their mission in the ocean of some planet, they all had a force vision. Mandolorians were toying with a group of civilians, pushing them towards the ocean, and were about to perform another execution. Then one Mandolorian broke away from the group, and demanded that they stop. There was no reason to do what they are doing, this would not bring them honor. The other Mandolorians didn’t care, and fired on the speaker, and the civilians. This vision was enough to convince the Council’s Jedi to let Revan and his faction go to war without any punishment, and Revan dawned the fallen Mandolorian’s mask out of respect, and went to war. Years pass, and Revan pretty much wins the entire war almost single handedly. His genius in military strategy, commanding troops, and making the hard calls turns the tables against the Mandolorians. Even defeating their leader, Mandalor the Ultimate in 1 on 1 combat. Winning the war, and scattering the Mandolorian Clans across the galaxy. Revan and his apprentice disappear, only to reappear years later with a massive armada of ships, now Darth Revan, and his apprentice, Darth Malak, Sith Lords, ready to conquer the crippled Republic. Veterans of the previous war join Revan, being more loyal to their old CO than the corrupt Senate. The Jedi Civil War begins. More happens, but it’s all in the Knights of the Old Republic game, I recommend checking it out. While old, gameplay is kinda crap, the story telling is superior than most games coming out today.

The empire here is not the Galactic Empire from the movies, it's the Sith Empire that coexisted alongside the Republic. The Republic and the many iterations of the Sith Empire fought multiple wars against each other until the Republic eventually came out on top and Darth Bane, the last remaining Sith, founded the Rule of Two. The jedi in the trailer is Satele Shan, a descendent of Darth Revan, who later becomes the Jedi Grand Master (the equivalent of Yoda in The Old Republic). She used a rare force ability called Tutaminis to block the lightsaber with her hands. Only very powerful force users could utilize it, for example Yoda in the Prequels when he absorbs Sidious' lightning. The bald Sith is Dath Malgus. He survives this battle heavily injured and later proclaims himself Sith emperor, thus starting a civil war within the Sith Empire. Malgus is pretty badass. If you want to get into Star Wars Legends I highly recommend to read the "Darth Bane" trilogy and then "Darth Plagueis". These books will always be canon for me.

There are definitely force techniques that temporarily protects one from plasma or perhaps to dissipate / deflect it. An example in canon is when Han Solo shot Darth Vader in Cloud City.
