In this video, Tim demonstrates a squat he's been using to sharpen his movements and develop control and strength. It's an interesting squat that offers a big bang for the buck.

I don’t know if you were thinking of my suggestion when you made this, but it’s perfect for work! I lift some heavy things, so gotta turn on the nervous system first, but rolling and rocking in a garage is just not going to happen. I was doing body weight deadlifts and standing cross crawls, but the twist is delicious icing!!

Hi Tim! Big fan of OS here. This move is a nice way to combine a squat with cross-crawling and head movement, really liking it. Been doing some reps few times a day for a few days, feels like a wonderful one-stop-shop for mobilising a big portion of your body to counterbalance all the sitting at work. Thank you! Also thank you for recommending to place more focus on diaphragmatic breathing to loosen up overly aggressive lumbars - has done wonders for my body and given new kind of knowledge of my hip and pelvis area. I have another bit that has been troubling me for some time and wanted to ask for your advice. How would you approach opening up tight shoulders, traps and neck? I have knots in my traps and shoulder area from desk work and boxing, plus the traps/neck is pulling my shoulders up a lot. I am doing head nods and rocking daily. The head nods especially help with the neck tension, but I can't seem to "gain proper sensory knowledge" of my shoulder area / deloitds due to the tightness, if you get what I mean. The trapezius muscles and supraspinatus seem to be taking over. Any movement or series of movements you recommend for me to try out to address the issue?

So glad the videos are helpful. That’s great to hear. As for your shoulder question, I do think head nods and head rotations are a definite place to start. Along with the deep breathing - being especially mindful of breath while on the computer, reading emails, and driving. I might also look at windshield wiper rolls (if you search windshield on our channel, there are a handful). And, depending on how the nature of the issue, I might try hanging from a bar while I practiced deep breathing. I wish I could be more helpful, but everything is a try it and see kind of thing...

@@OriginalStrengthSystem thank you for the quick reply! I have been doing windshield vipers but more as a reset for my hip area after boxing. Maybe I can add them to my morning and evening reset routine. Do you recommend passive or active hanging?

Hey Tim, thanks for your informative content! I'm searching for a solution for a "clicking/popping" in the hip area for example when I make a scissor-like leg by leg move over a small fence. Another situation is when i raise my legs in a hanging position to do abs training. So always when i raise my (right) legs or hips. There seems to be a resistance or some kind of a narrow situation in the hip. Can you make a video due to this topic or do you already have training tips for that imbalances? Greetings from Germany!

I’m not sure if I do, but I’ll look at my vids and think on it a bit. Is the clicking in the rear of the hip - si joint, or front? Does it hurt? Do you hear it or feel it or both?
@matthiasbergmann7994
@matthiasbergmann7994 3 жыл бұрын
@@OriginalStrengthSystem It is on rear or back of the right hip. And near at the end of the movement or ROM: Imagine you have a small chair in front of you and you want raise your leg over the chair. Beginning/raising the leg and highest point are no problem but at the end of the downwards movement comes the click. Its hear and feelable. Basically its hurt a little bit, especially when I would repeat it often. I have to say that I'm not very athletic and flexible in that area - to change that for the whole body I'm on your channel.

Ah, I’m familiar with that click you speak of. It sounds like your SI joint. You can see a Chiro or spine specialist. Though it may not be much to worry about. Also, and this may seem silly, make sure you stay hydrated, play with the range of motion you can make without the clicking, and try this movement to see if it helps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2GbqoaogMh_d5Y
