In this video, Tim demonstrates how to reset tight calves with a standing speed skater. This is also a great way to activate your glutes. A great movement prep for runners!

I needed this! I've been doing a lot of barefoot running this summer and my calves are feeling tighter than a clam at high tide. Thank you for all the frequent, helpful and entertaining content you put out to improve the daily living of so many people.

Amazing video as always! I have been so busy I haven't had the pleasure of watching your video but this one was perfect and just what I needed. Btw your Becoming Bulletproof workouts have been so clutch, I have been doing them mostly while traveling for school with limited gym access. I am always surprised by how much easier lifting the same weight I did a week ago feels when I am doing my OS resets. I got book review on that book coming out this weekend. Hopefully once I am done traveling we can figure out when to do an interview. :) Hope all is well.

Hello Tim. What exercise do you do with that red barrel??? :) Manthos Georgantzis.
@OriginalStrengthSystem

Oh man! That is filled with sand. We push and pull on it and move it from one place to another. Fantastic training from John Brookfield, the creator of battling ropes.

@@OriginalStrengthSystem how is it different from using the sandbags?
@OriginalStrengthSystem
@OriginalStrengthSystem 5 жыл бұрын
Sandbags you can pick up. The barrel weighs between 300 to 500 pounds depending on how much sand you put in it. It's for moving and manipulating. Like moving awkward, heavy pieces of furniture.

Do you have reset for arms and hands? my ring and pinky finger have that tingling numb sensation/Cubital tunnel syndrome. Ive been doing nerve flossing and some stretches but it hasnt gone away.
@OriginalStrengthSystem
@OriginalStrengthSystem 5 жыл бұрын
Off the top of my head, LOTS of head nods while lying propped up on the forearms. Also, when driving or sleeping, make sure you are not resting and compressing the inside of your elbow (the ulnar nerve). It's shallow and easy to aggravate. Hope this helps some.

Hi Tim, can it develop calves thicker?
@OriginalStrengthSystem
@OriginalStrengthSystem 5 жыл бұрын
I suppose it is possible, but it would take a great deal of volume. I think there may be more efficient ways like skipping, marching, and dragging and pushing things from one place to another.

Function is everything, by which I mean train for strength first then an increase in size should follow. I do toe raises, on the flat, sometimes on the edge of a step, or with a board under the ball of the foot. When able to, I skipped rope. I do these to maintain some strength, and to avoid swelling in the foot and ankle caused by blood pressure medication. As Tim writes, walking or marching is also key.

@@folknblues1 thank you Jeff. I never knew that marching and walking can help calves.
