I believe this is played by the Japan Ground Self Defense Force 1st Band, in the early 2000s under the direction of Masahiro Yoshinaga of the Institute of International Sousa research, Tokyo, allegedly in the style of Sousa himself. Apparently they recorded all of his marches, and there's a few more available on KZbin. I'd do anything to get my hands on the whole collection, as these are some of the best recordings I've heard - crisp accents, great dynamic range and full of energy! And note the regimental trumpet riff in the final trio, and the rim shots to imitate real pistols. Like many of his marches, these were never included in the score and only passed on orally. Thankfully enough astute JPS bandsmen have recollected all these for the benefit of us all.

Classic, lively, tuneful Sousa - not named the March King for nothing!

a fine rendition of this sousa march - the eastman wind ensemble/fennell version is the standard though - i could do without the sound effects in the trio lol - thanks orlik

Sousa's band used the same gunshots in the final rendition of the trio for this and US Field Artillery.

Hah! You want gunshots?? These are popguns compared to what sounds like a cannon blast in the Vienna Phil's New Year's Day performance of the Schutzen-Quadrille by the three Strauss brothers! Look it up on KZbin! It'll knock yoou right outta your seat!
