Not so fun fact: there was a kids dentist that was known as “the tooth man” and he would preform unnecessary procedures for the money. One of the procedures included ripping kids teeth out without anesthetic and spank and berate them when they even winced at the pain. He would sometimes threaten to spank the kids too. He would sometimes eat during procedures. He strapped an 8 year old kid down when he was supposedly “acting up” when getting unnecessary teeth yanked out without anesthesia. And he wouldn’t allow parents into the room. He wouldn’t allow the kids to scream or cry. He would leave mouth openers like the ones in the video on kids for hours leaving bruising and scars. His practice was shut down a few years ago and he refused interviews with CBS

Went to a cheap dentist when I was a young, single mom. Dude held his forearm across my throat to drill my bottom teeth without anesthetic (because he didn’t think Medicaid would pay him to give me more. He had already used some on different areas of my mouth). I punched him as soon as drill was away. Punched HIM. Years later I needed wisdom tooth pulled but couldn’t afford to be put under. I was so scared and sobbed so pitifully (I guess) that at the end I apologized, explained why I was so nervous, and doc goes “This ones on me. Sometimes the best payment I can receive is knowing I rebuilt trust with a patient that a colleague once broke down.” Then I cried from joy and the sweetness of the moment.

I had major teeth issues a few years ago in incredible pain all over, 1 local dentist claimed I needed 20k in work. I was devastated and knew it would be crazy to take on that debt. Luckily I was recommended a dentist that not only shook his head at that claim but has proved to be a remarkable dentist. It wasn't cheap but it sure as hell wasn't 20k. He also doesn't prescribe pain killers, something I really appreciated. On that note he doesn't pull teeth either. Fully focused on repair and reconstruction. Fantastic staff, great work every time, and they worked with me financially when I needed it most without putting me on a payment program. I went from fearing the dentist to looking forward to it. Mind blown.
@Asymmetrical-Saggin6 ай бұрын
No painkillers at all? Does he not know there are a lot of other painkillers out there that aren't Opiate derivatives? I had a full mouth extraction because of a bad accident and i was given Gabapentin and ketorolac both non Opiate and worked better than any times i was prescribed a traditional painkiller.
@jonnywilson91176 ай бұрын
@@Asymmetrical-Saggin That's as maybe, but opiate/opioid painkillers are still the strongest known painkillers that we have. With Fentanyl, the synthetic opioid being the strongest. "traditional" opioid painkillers would be something along the lines of codeine. Of which isn't all that strong, well, depends on the person. But at 1/10 the strength of morphine, it's the weakest of all the opioids. Fun fact: Codeine is actually broken down into Morphine in the liver. Let's say you were prescribed something like Buprenorphine, which isn't anywhere near as addictive as Morphine, even though it still gives you the same feeling. It's often prescribed to people dealing with opioid misuse, or, after being on opioids for a while. But, it is rather strong. Much much stronger than morphine. If you were given something like that, your opinion would be a little different. Makes sense that one of the things you were prescribed was Gabapentin. As that's prescribed for nerve pain. Worked with a guy with a real phucked up lower back caused by damaged nerves. He was on dihydrocodeine 30mg, Gabapentin and something else. But he was all kinds of messed up. You know, the no painkillers takes me back to when I got braces and had to have 4 teeth pulled. The strongest think I had was Cuprofen (400mg Ibuprofen). It really wasn't strong enough, but being younger, I had no idea I could've asked for something stronger. I would these days. Pain is good. Sometimes. Tooth/mouth pain is just not it. The pain from 2 infected sockets for 2 weeks was not something I recommend. Breathing was painful. But no anyway, you are right. There are other painkillers that do work better than some opiates. But, there aren't any non opiate/opioid painkillers that are stronger, or anywhere near the strength of the strongest opioid. The main problem is the dependence that can, and more than likely will end up happening. But there're ways to get around that without having to go down the path of dreadful withdrawals.

hey i have a question: when it comes to hydrogen peroxide and whitening, how is it used to whiten teeth ? do you just brush your teeth with it, swish it’s around, etc etc, or is there any specific method to using it ?
@teresale85173 жыл бұрын
So you can use straight hydrogen peroxide, you might find some bottles that say you can swish it. You don’t want to do that too often because it can damage the inside of you mouth. If that doesn’t work you can still use whitening strips :)
@rickgriffis76843 жыл бұрын
The longer it's on the teeth the better it works. That's why they make whitening trays that cover the teeth, keeping the solution on the teeth.

The bentist has done a few great things for me. For instance, my teeth were never the greatest, when I was younger I had a lot of cavities, some I didn't even go back in to take care of! Yes I know I should have but I didn't, but when I started watching The Bentist, I really started looking more into how my teeth looked. When I actually relised how bad my teeth looked, I went into my local dentist and got my teeth fixed. So thank you Bentist for making my smile look amazing insted of having something done in the futere. Also, The Bentist has taught me a lot about dentistry that I would have not known about before. Lastly, after watching The Bentist for a few months, I want to become a dentist not because I want to be cool like you, but because I want to help people, like kids who were like me. See, but the fact you are honest about the teeth whitening makes me adore you. A dentist with integrity. As someone that had his teeth messed up by Leukemia, then by the dentist that tried to rush through my tooth repair. It was not fun. Some of my teeth are still messed up because while the nice male dentist that replaced the prior woman offered to redo my teeth, we had to move 372 miles away. Can't be making that drive every week to get my teeth done. So, while I appreciated the gesture, I unfortunately could not have the repair actually done and that unfortunately led to the fillings that she did so horribly and then refused to listen to me any time I said " I still feel a gap. " or " You sealed up the space between my teeth. It's literally impossible to floss it. You even couldn't get the floss in there. " They literally had to use one of those like... plastic needle-threader things like you use when you sew one time after I said " That's way too tight and I can feel it pressing on the back of the teeth next to it. " - she kept refusing to listen, told me that she doesn't see where it's pressing and it must just be the tooth shifting. Meanwhile she couldn't get the floss in between those teeth, so very clearly that's what it was and she just wanted to go home and didn't care if that ruined my teeth.

My sensitive teeth story: I chipped my tooth about 8 months ago and it ended up being very sensitive and hurt a lot. Long story short, 8 months later I still have to use a straw to drink everything so I don’t have a tooth ache for the whole day. (Yes it sucks 😩)

IMO, unless your career requires you to smile a lot (like if you're in high-end sales (car dealers, real estate agents) ) you don't need to whiten your teeth, just keep them clean.

I'm allergic to peroxide no matter what kind it is which really sucks. If I use it on my skin for booboos (yes I a grown woman said booboos) it actually burns my skin leaving 1st degree burns & if left longer up to 2nd degree. Whitening toothpastes are completely out of the question that contain peroxide, they make the inside of my mouth peel as if it had gotten a bad sunburn... totally gross. Honestly the only thing that whitens or makes my teeth appear whiter is the Hello charcoal toothpaste. Since I'm on multiple psychotropic meds that dry my mouth out I mix the Smart Mouth toothpaste with the Hello Charcoal toothpaste when I brush in the morning & at night then rinse with the Smart Mouth 24hr dry mouth dual mouth wash. It's the only way I feel confident that I have white teeth & fresh breath because the meds dry my mouth out so much that no matter how much water I drink I honestly feel that my breath smells because it's always dry. The Smart Mouth works really really well to prevent the dry factor. My parents spent a lot of $ on my smile back in the day the least I can do is keep it beautiful.

@@dyingartist_5686 Oh so everyone with an "anime" profile picture is now a soft and scared baby? Your profile picture looks like a cartoon which is really close to anime. Also, that "anime" profile picture is my VRoid OC, and I thought it was cute. Fuck off and go back trollong in Fortnite, not youtube.

Everyone, whenever you see people showing before and after photos of teeth whitening look at the gums! The before picture is almost always warmer (meaning more yellow) and the after is cooler (meaning more blue). This is a trick to make you think there is a more drastic difference than there actually is.

Yeah his teeth were straight, but look at 6:48. His enamel on top of his front front teeth and canines is completely eroded. That's not good, probably already sensitive to hot and cold.

There was a orthodontist and my mom was considering braces for me at the time, and we went to one place that looked really expensive outside and because the dentist recommended them. The orthro wanted to put all shorts of darn metal in my mouth and when my mom asked questions, he got defensive and never answered any of the questions straight. My mom was fuming, and took us to another guy with all five stars. He was a much nicer guy, and he could even fix the gaps and stuff I had without all that metal. Getting the braces on went well and I habe no metal in my mouth! 😁
