@@tklrrbccar3906 I've already replied to him and haven't gotten a proper answer: You should read the bible as a coherent whole and consider the context instead of taking a passage in a vacuum that conforms to your protestant presuppositions. First, ask yourself, if the meaning of that passage is as obvious as you believe it is, then how did it go unnoticed for 1500 years? Did it really take until the reformation for true christianity to emerge? Second, if you take it literally rather than as hyperbole that instructs us not to usurp the role of our Father in heaven (he is rebuking the pharisees after all), then how do you reconcile that with the apostles constantly refering to Abraham, David, Jacob, etc as their 'Fathers', or with Paul referring to the Corinthians as his spiritual children, etc etc? The simple answer is you don't call anyone 'Father' in the same sense that you say "Our Father". Moreover, what about the apostles calling themselves 'teachers', which the same passage also speaks against? Not surprisingly, protestants have no issue with the label "teacher". Why? Because you pick and choose what to believe literally, divorced from the church and tradition that gave you the bible.

I suggest praying to Saints Cyprian and Justina of Antioch. Cyprian was an occultist who sent demons to Justina, but, through her prayers, not only sent away the demons but converted Cyprian. I apologize if this is too personal, but I think it might help you. I was a pagan and a witch for a decade, very politically extreme on both ends. Through the grace of God, I came back to orthodoxy. There is hope for your uncle. I will keep both of you in my prayers ❤

He wants us to follow him with free will not because we think we are obligated.
