I can safely say that it's the most impactful book on my life thus far, as it helped me see the folly of worldly thinking and the idolizing of "reason", which had been a great deception in my life. I'm looking forward to getting your two other books, ''The ''ancient Path'' and ''Journey to Mount Athos''. I love your writing style and appreciate how you methodically substantiate many of your points in reference to the true witnesses of our lord Jesus Christ such as the many saints, martyrs, prophets and those who suffered immensely for our faith. As a non ecumenist Greek Orthodox observer, I seem to gravitate more and more with Russian Orthodoxy, especially the old believers who suffered greatly under the demonic Bolsheviks without ever denouncing their faith. I feel they kept the faith alive without the modern ecumenical ideas and the heresy of separating the one true church of Christ. I'm so disappointed in the Patriarch in Constantinople and the new archbishop in America Elpidophoros and their heretical ideas in communion with the Pope. I wish I could be part of your parish. God love you Father and thank you for truly awakening me, for I learned so much from your videos.

Fr Spyridon is spot on. I would love to participate in Divine Liturgy with him and his parish, but that is a logistical nightmare as I am across the pond. However, the church should address these issues and remind believers of how easy it is even for the "elect" to be deceived by the comforts, technology, easiness, egotism, and media of the age we live. The age of "I want what I want when I want it...it's all about me...etc." We live in dangerous times to be a Christian, brothers and sisters, and it's not going to get easier as Christians. This will get worse in the west as well. We are and will continue be challenged by the world. The truth is harsh and we were warned that these things must come. Be ready, expect it, and stay strong in Christ. He is the way, the truth and the life! Lord have mercy on us!

VG comments on this video. Years ago I read Alexander Solzhenitsyns Gulag Archipelago and his speech to Harvard University in 1978. There is much to learn from his works. Find his speech it's well worth reading. One point he made is that the West has lost its civil courage, there are courageous individuals, but they have no influence on society. In any case, be courageous or you will achieve nothing. Roles have now reversed from what they were last century. Russia still has its problems and we should not idealise it, but officially at least, the church has a part to play in its national life. In the West it does not, we are filled with pride and sin. All too often churches have gone along with the spirit of the age. We were Orthodox before Rome invaded in 1066. It's time to return to the church of Jesus Christ. It won't be easy but that is the path we are to walk.

One thing I disagree with is when you say that these developments have been beyond what Seraphim Rose could have imagined. My grandparents used to often tell us all pretty much the same thing. I have heard more than once too that Satan hates how us human beings smell no matter how many times a week we bathe, shower, etc. He thinks that anything we can't help but excrete from our bodies is only more proof that he is always going to be superior to us as well as superior to god himself. Another thing Satan hates even more is when people from the different Orthodox worship rights exchange valuable to human life both scientific based and emotional intelligence spiritual based information. Don't believe me? Jesus Christ himself said, "My people perish for lack of knowledge". Thus whomever Satan has duped through sin human and pride into becoming his puppets to go along with that kind of dark empathy global consciousness is without knowing it allowing themselves to become more and more servant Île to him.
