Hello Mike, John, and anyone else on board A little off topic of the video, but I just wanted to briefly share my story and give you an unimaginably large thank you At 19 I had my wisdoms removed by a dentist looking to make some money. I didn't need to have them removed. It was a shocking experience and I never had any follow up with dentists as I had developed a phobia and also couldn't afford it. My bite began to shift, my teeth gnawed down, I was clenching at night, my teeth turning inward. My top palate had about an inch of space between my back molars. I had no idea about tongue positioning. I've been hard mewing, because my maxilla is quite recessed and my palate so narrow for a very fat tongue that it simply would not fit in there to do any work. Within one month I've managed to get VERY dramatic midface width from my palate, as well as some forward growth. I'm 32. I still have an occlusion, my palate is high on one side, and goes back and to the left, but my teeth are straight, and now that my tongue can reasonably fit into my upper palate, I can properly swallow and maintain position For 13 years I've had a lot of anxiety surrounding my very uneven jaw and facial proportion, especially as a man. I'm completely shocked at my results so far, and I can't even begin to express how thankful I am for all of this information, especially given to the people for free. Sincerely, I want to thank you so much for being honest and genuine in sharing your findings with the world to help so many people like me. I still have some work to do, but I've managed to regain so much confidence in such a short amount of time. Thank you for everything!!!

This is interesting!! I can see this working but only on a case by case basis. I underwent canine impaction surgery and had no choice but to get braces to be able to pull the palatally impacted canines into place. On the upside, I got the self ligating Damon System braces so there was no need for extra extractions, palatal expanders or rubber bands. It’s more costly than regular braces but worth it. It also helps with facial symmetry and gives a wider smile. I’ve never heard of orthotropics before. Is it essentially a combo of palatal expanders and Invisalign?

Sometimes mewing won't help. Some people just need braces
@luke149463 жыл бұрын
Orthodontic treatment is NOT a one size fits all!, And unfortunately not all people or orthodontists understand! Some cases need palatal expansion, (many actually) to treat narrow palate, and crowded upper teeth, after the age of 16 apparently your "too old" for hyrax type expanders, and need a M.A.R.P.E type expander like M.S.E™ which is screwed into the palate with 4 screws, to achieve TRUE width expansion of the palate, also has the known benefit of improving nasal breathing, Unfortunately there aren't many M.S.E™ orthodontists, virtually none here in ireland, Or S.A.R.P.E surgery which is MUCH MORE invasive than M.A.R.P.E/MSE™ type expansion, unfortunately many orthodontists still pull bicuspid teeth to "make room" to treat crowding when in fact the end result results in LESS ROOM for the tongue, making mewing harder, and increasing risk of sleep apnea in some patients, The mandible if deficient in width, cannot be expanded width-wise non-surgically, an orthognathic procedure called M.S.D.O or mandibular-midline-distraction, involves vertically cutting the chin in half between the roots of the teeth, and gradually separating the two halves apart over the course of weeks/months, to produce 6-10 mm of new bone, enough to uncrowd and align crowded bottom front teeth, not very commonly done though, And then there's mandibular bilateral osteotomy (b.s.s.o), And lefort 1 maxillary osteotomy, often both done together in tandem, known as maxillary-mandibular advancement, or double surgery, You CAN'T repeat CAN'T, unfortunately treat/correct/resolve all issues with just braces or clear aligners, many issues stem from the bones themselves, and some orthodontic treatments involving bicuspid teeth extractions, following retraction to close the gaps, can cause potentially serious issues making problems WORSE, In addition to leaving the pre-existing issues UN-RESOLVED!, Negatively impacting appearance, and patients make suffer more than previously, and alotta people complain about how it's left them, and desperately seek further treatment, and the previous work done complicates all that, So again, not all orthodontists are to be relied on, orthodontic treatment is not a one size fits all, and you can't treat everything with braces or invisalign. Lot here i know but hope it helps! I wish i knew all this before!
