Your comments about the rpm fading or increasing at idle were especially helpful to me - thanks for sharing your knowledge so freely, I've learned a lot through watching your videos.

Glad to hear it. I try to educate along the way!

I am really loving watching your videos, my interest in nitro engines has been rekindled. I have engines from 40 years ago, including the OS 40 FSR which have never been overhauled. Your videos have given me the knowledge and confidence to have ago. I purchased an ultrasonic cleaner and begun stripping, cleaning and overhauling my collection. I will be doing the OS 40 FSR next ! Thanks David for sharing your experience with us.

Excellent! Keep those engines running!!

I don't think there is a better running engine out there, this is what engineering perfection looks and sounds like.

Well....there are loads of excellent running engines, but yes OS produced some of the very best for sure. Even with the many different carb styles they made, they all seems to work quite well. The Super Tigre Mag V carb is also one of the best that was ever made.

Thanks David yeah im trying to get my planes ready for spring,i just got back into the hobby this summer after 20 years,my fuel i ran is torco 10 % i added benal racing oil to it and the 46 ran good for me.i like for my engines to have plenty of oil and im not fussy with the mess as long as it runs cool.my last flight with my 4 star 40 sticky throttle.ive got that fixed now, but all the help i can get to have a happy engine,thanks again for info.👍

These are great engines! My first rc engine was a 40 fsr abc engine. Ran it for years and years without issue. Still have a few in my stash.

After a little tweeking it's perfect, some carbs doesn't react as good to the std air blowing pre setting test, but it works near perfect 95% of the times. Great engine of course from OS!

Awesome job man! I like the way u make it looks easy haha.. after ur job the engine was working like a watch. Why did u choose the spark #8 and 5% fuel ? here in Brazil I don't see 5% I use 15% and I use #4 in an OS max 46 AX . Am I wrong? cheers!!

Hi David, great Video. interested in the way you control the test bench servo. Are you control setup homemade or purchased. Would like to know a bit more as I'm building my own RC Engine test bench and your set-up looks very professional.
Hola 👋 tengo el mismo motor y tengo problemas con el tornillo de mezcla, no con la aguja y vi que usted lo regula , mi pregunta es cuantas vueltas lo abre.

I loved these engines back in the day, only problem was weak muffler mount breaking in a hard landing.

Hi, wow that starts nice, so the os #8 plugs work well i ran A3 plugs over the summer when i buy new ones thinking about getting some of the #8s for my 46 fx thanks i enjoye watching your videos and very important to have a reliable airplane.thanks
@dmrcflyr24 жыл бұрын
Well and A3 plug is a hot plug to be used more with no nitro (FAI) fuel. The #8 is a medium range plug to be used for fuel with nitro content from 5% - 15%.

Just picked up one of these engines. Doesnt look like its ran very much. What is a good fuel for this OS 40?

Based on your question, one can only assume that you are new to glow engine operation. This particular video was not made to instruct a beginner on how to tune an engine. I would recommend reading this article. www.flyrc.com/glow-engine-tuning-setup/#:~:text=Start%20up%20the%20engine%20at,slowly%20back%20up%20to%20full. www.hooked-on-rc-airplanes.com/nitro-engine-tuning-tips.html I have a very old series of videos where I go through this process but I cannot say how good I did on them. Most of my older videos are complete crap anyway. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oquXlKuOn9R0aJo kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4mvm2erfrZlnbM kzbin.info/www/bejne/laWUYZydqq5-nKs kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpTYeKargKh7ptk

Do you balance you APC props? The website says you should balance.. but ibe noticed mine being pretty well balanced.. Thanks
@dmrcflyr24 жыл бұрын
Most of blades have been balanced but I don't go back and check them after some usage. Most APC's that I buy new are verified/checked but I have yet to need to add weight to many. Maybe a handful. I use clear nail polish to balance as opposed to removing material.
