i just picked up two pairs of super basic mcdavid compression sleeves from the walmart clearance isle for $5 a pair.... even without all the fancy graduated compression, they're still quite effective. i use a chemical called vsl to remove the applique logo so now they're straight black. i work at a fulfillment center where i walk up to nine hours each shift. my calves would be crazy sore after the first night and get cumulatively worse as the week wears on, despite hitting my calves with a massage gun every night/morning when i get home. they're still tender if i massage them, but i don't feel them at all if i leave them alone. they no longer scream at me after a few hours and make me wonder if i can make it to the end of the shift. it's a drastic improvement for me

Personally, there's a big difference when I wear calf sleeves versus when I don't. As mentioned, I wear it because it reduces vibration in my lower leg which in turn reduces soreness the following day. But what really helps me recover is my compression recovery boots! It's quite an investment but it pays off in the long run (no pun intended).

Mine were a big help with my shin splints issue. Now I only wear them on a run if my shins start to flare up. Mainly rock them after quality and long runs to assist in recovery.

Hey bud. I have shin splints at the moment. I ordered calf sleeves. Did you wait for the splints to Go away and then started to run with the sleeves? How long did you leave them on After the run? Thanks in advance

@@ATLANTICMUSICHQ run with the calf sleeves. Once it starts to heal I’d transition to only wearing them post run recovery

Love calf sleeve. I've been fairly susceptible to calf and achilles injuries in the past and feel that the calf sleeve help. I wear them on most of my long runs, particularly if it's a hard trail run, and after my hardest runs. If for nothing else they feel comfy. Thanks for the Vlog!

Lots of people were not running or running less time per week because this pandemic. So it seems interesting to use these sleeves and a stable and high cushioning running shoes ( for a while at least) when we are "returning " to run ... hopefully injury free .

I love my Rockay calf sleeves. They also make other compression wear as well, such as non-compression socks, eg. merino wool. It’s a Danish company and though on the pricy side, the calf sleeves are really high quality. I particularly like the EcoWhite colorway, which is really silver with black highlights in a design. The EcoWhite is softer because it’s made from a special recycled fabric with no dyes. Their branding/logo is very inconspicuous. Finally, their customer service is great. I made friends with the gal who helped me, who is also a runner and works for them from Finland! I bought them both for coverage from sun as well as warmth when I don’t want to wear long pants, but of course also for recovery. I’m interested in trying their socks.

John Finbar Sheehan Which socks did you get? I’m considering the Flare (quarter crew) and Razer (crew) which look the same other then height. If you have those are they very thick? Martha

@@Martha-fluterunner I got the Agile, Razer and Vigor...I also bought the Blaze sleeves recently but gave them to a friend as he had a calf problem...I will submit another order I also have socks by Hilly, Runderwear, Steigen, Feetures, Brooks, Randy Sun and a few others...The Rockay are my favourite...the Agile are really low...I have a size 12UK/US13 foot. All are very thin and my size is XL. The Agile weigh 22g per pair, the Razer 33g and the Vigor 57g. I have them in various colours but as you say the EcoWhite are the best. I have had no blistering issues and can recommend all of them. I got the Razer because the Flare were out of stock. I have a pair of Hoka OneOne Clifton Edge's that cut my ankles up. The Agile is low hence why I wanted the taller sock.

OldManRunner Thanks so much for the detailed reply! I particularly want a quarter crew to use with my Brooks Hyperion Elite 2, since it seems that some people have issues with the back of the heel collar rubbing their Achilles area. I prophylactically put tape on my heels but didn’t sense a big problem; nevertheless I’m going to order the Razer and Vigor. I have mostly low socks and with winter coming, another reason to get more crew socks. I’m thrilled to hear that they’re thin, because in the photos on the website they look fairly padded. Perfect! Thanks for this. I've been looking for some kind of tights or jogging pants for the winter, but these might be all I need living in the South to give a little extra warmth for those frankly not frigid winter days here. I think I saw them prior to this video, but didn't really recognize what it was til now.

I'm with you on overdoing logos. We like subtle and practical. Weird name for a company, ugly branding and shady marketing. Great review. Ha! I use calf sleeves often on my 18" calves. I feel like they shake around less through the entire gait cycle. Maybe it's placebo but it seems they're less sore during and afterwards.
@kofuzi4 жыл бұрын
For what it’s worth, on the OS1st website, the images show the logo. But for whatever reason, the RRS website shows them without the logo. Not sure if those are images from a prior version of the product or what

I’ve had a couple pair, some very compressive and some just very long socks. I generally prefer calf sleeves because I feel like I can get away with a couple uses between washes. But I believe that, if there are issues in the Achilles, then the full sock is necessary

I don’t mind logos as long as I like the design and they are not too obnoxious. The ones on these calf sleeves are on the border of the latter. Is it possible to wear them inside out?

I think that would be possible. But I wonder if the compression would be less effective somehow
