love this guy (and you three as well)! I think actually a lot of spanish-speaking fans call him 'niño canguro' which translates to 'kangaroo kid' and it's probably my favourite nickname for oscar so far!

Yep, Costa Rican fan here. He's the "niño canguro" for me and I love that 🦘. Although, I have to admit, if he was an animal, I think he would be some kind of feline. I mean, he's just always so quiet and unbothered.

He's wearing a Kiwi on his hat - McLaren have always had a Kiwi logo - and they have carried on with the New Zealand racing colour of the 1960s - papaya orange.

We need to consider Kosi as a nickname. Given that Mt Kosciuszko is the tallest mountain in Australia and that Aussies pronounce it as Kosi-Oscar I think it fits. This lad has scaled the mountain and is likely to keep ascending.

Aussie nicknames are typically shortened and have 'i' or 'o' on the end. The obvious one would be Ozi - and it's also synonymous with an animated character on a Melbourne based TV show from the past. Wombat has a slang meaning in Australia and I doubt very much Oscar fits the definition. Also, you don't pick your own nickname - it has to be bestowed upon you by mates.

The other drivers with nicknames are Sainz / Smooth Operator, Riccardo/ Honey Badger or Danny Ric, Perez / Checo. For Oscar it should be something short.

All of those three nicknames are rubbish. OP is OP. Bruce from Finding Nemo might itself be a reference to the Monty Python sketch about the Australian department of philosophy where all the faculty are named Bruce.
