Morning Oscar, you've got two fantastic models there, they look stunning as they weave their way through the layout. If these models were looked after then they were a great investment. Looking at the price in 1972, about £4/19/6 to now where you can pay between £100 to £130 for one in very good condition. I am not sure I could pay that much. I'm so pleased to see that you take such care and pride in these models they are so worth preserving. As always I enjoy watching and look forward each week to seeing your collection. Thanks Oscar see you on the next one take care Eddy xx

My usual Sunday morning fix. What a beautiful pair of trains running around together. I think you are right about 3 coaches being enough. Or that might be because that’s the optimum length of train I can run on my layout. Thanks for sharing Oscar. Always a pleasure to watch. Roy.

I have a Princess Elizabeth in the same style sleeve cover, there was not any wrap around the inner box and the plastic cracks are from having to 'force' the loco and tender from the tight fit. I bought mine around the same time -1972 - it cost me £4.95, at the time I was earning £1 a week from my paper round. I still have her and she runs perfectly - complete with 'real chuffing sound' in the tender and 'Synchrosmoke' !

Morning Oscar, a really enjoyable video looking back at the Coronation Class locomotives. I have the Blue “Coronation” and “Princess Alexandra” with the matching coaches, the Red “Dutchess of Hamilton” only has standard maroon LMS coaches. The red coronation Scott class are very sort after and silly prices… love the two clips at “0.58” through the point work and then “37.30” with someone enjoying the speed a little to much, racing on the railway. Lol All very best and looking forward to next video. Marc
@oscarpaisley2 жыл бұрын
Good morning Marc, that's a great collection you have and you're right about the silly prices. It seems odd the run on the red coaches was so limited. Although the blue coaches now seem to have increasingly strong prices. Thanks for watching take care. Oscar
@gavintempleton72642 жыл бұрын
Terrific tutorial as always.. If you ever have enough time or patience, you recently mentioned replacing "Running Gear" on a loco. I have a Princess Class that was as new. But the reason it had never been used was due to the pistons working antagonistically. This made the engine shudder as the wheel rods on each side competed. I ended up using the motor and a different chassis. If I had known how to remove and replace the rods on the wheels it would have been a rare new engine. Maybe some day you can do that. I think there will be flanges, maybe plastic but I think there will be a danger of losing or breaking them.

@@oscarpaisley Hi Oscar, Thank you for replying. It's all time consuming. Yes I have seen your R50 video and it was great. I will run it again. It was rather about the Top Link. These are much altered and don't run like the old E50s. Longer and the bogie is a hazard. Like the modern Tornados etc. I've been trying to alter it. I have little experience with later Hornby configurations. Probably best to stick to the 70s and early 80s that I am used to. Do you know when they started doing this new configuration? Probably late 80s? Gavin.

Hi thank you again for watching I've just copied part of the reply I made to John Gibson in the comments regarding the purchase of the models which may be of interest. (The maroon LMS Coronation Scott coaches, we will just say are a silly price and it was one of those weak moments and I just bought them! The blue ones for about £15-£20 each quit silly, I got them in two lots one of which was tied up with the later Hornby Railways Blue Coronation R.685 somewhere around 2014/15 shortly after getting the R.864 Blue Coronation which was £55 which came from an event at the Shildon NRM. The maroon Coronation R.871 was offered to me for £70 by someone who knew I was looking for one in late 2018). Thank you again for watching and the kind words, take care. Oscar

It is great to see the streamlined coronations running. I wonder if Hornby put a little more plasticiser in the bogies of the coaches that were made in China so that they could bend them to fit metal wheels but it makes them wobble on the pivot more. They make a good train set anyway.

Superb pair of trains, I have grown to like the Coronation Class though I think the A4 still has the edge on them. I have the modern Dutchess of Hamilton but don't yet have any matching coaches for her as the maroon ones seem to be super crazy prices, probably now exceeding the new blue ones. Definitely a sellers market at the moment.
@oscarpaisley2 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks Robin, glad you enjoy that. A traffic pair of models from Tri-ang Hornby, great to hear you have the Duchess of Hamilton. Coach prices definitely a bit on the steep side... Take care. Oscar
@gavintempleton72642 жыл бұрын
Hi Oscar, I have a loco I think from the 90s. Well after my time. It is a "Top Link", similar to the Duchess Class LMS. It seems to have a normal Ringfield tender C 1980s. The loco is a dummy and it is longer than the Hornby Princess Class that I am familiar with. The issue is the same as the modern Tornado. It derails on anything other than an outer radius on a non-incline/ decline track. I have dismantled the front bogie many times. It is not a weight problem. It lacks flexibility. Therefore coming out of an incline the bogie "takes off" and lands off the rails. Removal of the second row of bogie wheels and slackening the screw allows it to stay on the track, but it is unstable and can twist without the second row of bogie wheels. Adding small washers or tiny springs has no benefit. A longer rod to the bogie may help. The problem with a slack screw is the screw will gradually loosen and fall out. When did they change to this from the usable Princess/ Scotsman formula? It's just less bullet proof and the selling market must be tiny as it's almost an ornament without a lot of changes. Shame for such a well made thing.

Great video there Oscar both of those trains looked great, those made in China coaches looked fantastic and the quality and extra details is very noticeable compared to the British coaches, the thinking’s that they Chinese ones have compared to the British ones makes them far better for me, one good example is the metal wheels which don’t get dirty as quickly as plastic ones do and they run a lot smoother.

Hi there Oscar ,, How much are the maroon and blue coronation engines if average to good condition cost ? That if ya dont mind me asking .. Also how much roughly would the lms cars worth each or do you have to buy them in a set ,, and finally what does the LMS stand for. Both of them locos are really good looking and in really good nic , also what year where these first brought ie the coronation loco's. I cant stop thanking you enough for a putting these video's you post as there awesome.. Cheers from John in Australia

Good morning John, L.M.S. was the London, Midland and Scottish Railway. The maroon LMS Coronation Scott coaches, we will just say are a silly price and it was one of those weak moments and I just bought them! The maroon Coronation R.871 was offered to me for £70 by someone who knew I was looking for one in late 2018. Both Coronations in the video were available in the shops in the early 1970s the blue one being released first in 1970 and the maroon on following in 71 I think they had both been dropped from the catalogue by 1974. There may have been a number of coronation Scott Train packs/sets over the years by Hornby although these would be in the 80s and 90s and 2000s, which is the period the coaches I have were made. Thanks again for watching hope the information was off some help. Oscar
