I love Cillian's nervous laugh before he speaks and his body language, where he rubs his face and glances at the audience, almost looking like he had no idea why he was there. He humanized the act of receiving this most prestigious award. He made it seem very nonchalant. What made it even more fabulous is he then gave a speech that came in under two minutes. He didn't attempt to prophesize the award or the film. He thanked who needed thanking and exited stage right. So refreshing in todays times of bloatedness.

i don’t think i’ve ever really cared enough for celebrating oscars. but watching cillian win this and watching his journey i actually feel oddly proud? the dude has been an incredible actor his whole life and i remember when i first watched him in red eye thinking he’s pretty decent. and he’s been so big because of peaky blinders and everything else, so to see him win all these accolades now is so amazing and so emotional. well done cillian you’re so talented and truly worthy of all this recognition you’ve been receiving EDIT i love seeing all the positive comments about him. you really can’t fault the dude. and the genuine joy on his face when he’s up there is soooo different to the low key cillian we know in the press. again, i am so happy for him and he truly deserves this.

I recognize this talented artist from roles in films over the years and never knew his name but everytime i saw his performances I remember been drawn completely in by his captivating approach to the character and his hauntingly beautiful face. A name I shall never forget now.
