"Cinema Paradiso" winning the Oscar for best foreign language film was the highlight of the night. One the the best movies ever made.

It's the supreme irony after the year of Do The Right Thing when Driving Miss Daisy won best picture, when Spike Lee was up again for an oscar for Black Klansmann, the winner for best picture was Green Book which was basically Driving Miss Daisy 2 !!!

1. Crimes and Misdemeanors 2. The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover 3. The Little Mermaid 4. Roger & Me 5. Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story 6. Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt 7. The Bear 8. Drugstore Cowboy 9. Born on the Fourth of July 10. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation Streep should have won Actress for She-Devil, amazing comedic performance. Shame on you for saying she didn't even have a movie this year! Also, Teen Witch is iconic and should have won costume design.

1, 2, 7. Sensational and undeserving of their non recognition.

I remember "Born On" being considered a front runner for Best Picture alongside "Daisy" (maybe because of the "Born On" Globe Best Drama win, and having a Best Director nod and both Stone and Cruise strong contenders for a win). I preferred "Driving Miss Daisy," but I don't recall it being considered a shoo-in to win before the big night, even with the Best Comedy or Musical Globe and the Producers Guild Award.

Friends of mine....of a certain age... feel like the 80s were great, while the 90s dropped off. It seems like it's almost always a reflection of the age of the critic.

So many movies missed, The Cook, .... too risqué for Oscar's, I get it, but Gorgeous filmmaking. The War of The Roses, Major example of extremely poor marketing. The movie and acting and subject matter are Supreme and Sublime. Just get the divorce and leave, don't be spiteful and don't Need this or that. Chandelier scene took forever to film via Ms Turners mouth in an interview. Of course, biggest snub in History (I feel beats the loss of Citizen Kane for at least it got the nomination) Do The Right Thing (also Hoop Dreams, other year - I'm not black, so get off your soapbox, they just are huge snubs), Look for Kim Basinger speech. Do The Right Thing FAAAAAR exceeds Driving Miss Daisy!!!
