I feel like people over exaggerate the "darkness" of this manga it's just the initial shocking part that gets you but after that it's rather interesting, I wouldn't say wholesome since protagonist is really just doing wholesome celebrity things for different intentions. But it's not at least as dark as other things I've read. other than the protagonist all of the supporting cast the character that has developed in recent chapters it's pretty light hearted with an interesting mystery.

People have different opinions, and different series attract different groups of people. If you had people used to watching stuff like blood c, they won’t think of this as dark. But if you had a group of people who are more used to stuff like k-on or recently Bocchi, they’d look at this as pretty dark. What you’re seeing is just two (probably more) groups of people with vastly different views of what they see, merging together into one group to watch this show. This is why very big fandoms always turn terrible, my hero, genshin, etc, are always so horrible to be around. Since they are so big, they attract an insane amount of different groups of people, and it often turns into a toxic environment when they start discussing stuff.
