Another characteristic ECG finding in pericarditis is downsloping TP segment (known as spodic sign). this sign is almost always absent in STEMI. therby it could be useful in distinguishing pericarditis from acute STEMI

Great video! I would like to just input that at 4:04 it is stated cardiac output is the amount of blood pumped by the heart per heartbeat but that is actually stroke volume. cardiac output = heart rate x stroke volume. just a correction ! :)

I had this medical emergency in 2017 while prepping for work. The only way the severe pain decreased as stated in this video was sitting up against a wall and slightly bending forward. The pain was beyond a 10 and felt like a ❤️ attack. Told my wife to call for a 🚑 and spend 2 days in the hospital. Blood work showed a bacterial infection.

I was finally diagnosed. The ER sent me home 4 times telling me it was anxiety or indigestion. I’ve had 3 children and this was by far the worst pain I’ve ever felt. I had to refuse to leave the ER because of the pain I’d been in for days and I hadn’t slept or been able to work. Finally a cardiologist saw me and diagnosed me super quickly with acute my-pericarditis sent me home with colchicine and another NSAID. It’s been almost 4 days that were mostly pain and afib free but today I had another episode/attack of sever pain up my neck throat and jaw. I just want this to go away.

@vixuality3160 Sorry for the delay in response, military keeps me busy and moving around. No far as sytems, I had inflammation around my heart from the inhaled bacteria. Thanks for asking.

Also remember that some forms of acute pericarditis require immediate medical intervention. for example in uremic pericarditis urgent hemodialysis is an absolute indication.

a constant eating pattern of high fatty foods also can cause pericarditis. Alot of disease comes from the food we put into our body.
