"The original film or TV series lasts a very Soviet-like 7.5 hours. But the video available in the West is less than two hours long." These are 5 single movies, and two of them last 2 hours. And you can get them in a complete DVD box including all 5 parts.

Both were equally important. If the soviets lost Stalingrad, the soviets could have been pushed too far back and eventually defeated. D-Day was the start of the liberation of western europe. In short, if the soviets didn't defeat the german 6th army at Stalingrad and D-Day failed, things would be different today

the authenticity with which the film makers have put effort into making is very impressive, especially for a film that was made in the 60's. Hollywood movies of this period like "Patton" or "the Battle of the Bulge" wont even be able to hold a candle to the realism i see in this clip. Can someone post the entire thing? I'd love to see it. I already saw and fell in love with "Idi i smotri" here on youtube. Much thanks to the poster!

Great seeing a movie about the Russian/Soviet side. I started getting interested in reading about the history of World War 2 from the Russian side when I was about 12-13 years old? Not sure. Not many movies in the US back in the late 70s early 80s. I guess the book was "The Russo-German War" or something like that. Of course there was the great BBC series, "The World at War". Also the "Unknown War"narrated by Burt Lancaster. Btw, t would be great to see more of these on You Tube. Our children should be taught this along with the whole history of the War. Not political correctness. Thanks again, from an American friend.

i'll name a few things: -no markings on the Tiger (where's the cross on the side for starters) -holding and MP-40 by the ammo stock, though that might be possible since it's apparently a russian firing a captured weapon) -So many tigers with hardly any infantry support??? -The russians stand tall while in a firefight? there's hardly a better way to end up dead -And tanks wouldn't waste so many rounds on a handful of infantrymen And no, i don't get this from CoD, try reading a book too.

The point is that this scene doesn't match up with how it went. The only time tanks were sent into battle without infantry support was when they were fighting on open ground where any infantry would be instantly mowed down. Tiger tanks were utterly precious tanks as they were very expensive and took time to produce, but most of all, they're highly powerful, not to be left vulnerable to enemy infantry.
