Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos! They are so helpful. In regards to stage 4, can you explain why IADLs are lost here and not earlier on in the process? Typically IADLs participation decreases prior to ADL participation. Would love your insight.

Hi Bayleigh! Thanks for your comment. I agree with you that IADL participation would be impacted in the earlier stages. The breakdown of the stages in this video were based on resources that primarily broke down ADL impact and did not focus on IADL. It was noted in stage 4 that both ADL and IADL are compromised for people to get a fuller picture but its not to say that IADL isn't impacted in the earlier stages. I can see that is a gray area that the stages didn't address now that I'm reviewing this with you. IADL difficulties would arise early since its sensitive to cognitive decline so it's likely that we would see signs of IADL difficulty by stage 2 and maybe even as early as stage 1 in some areas depending on one's progression.
