the idea that the worst part of isekai is the protagonist is super fascinating to me. I don't really watch a lot of isekai but I love portal fantasy, which obviously has some major things in common (even though they also have some very interesting differences. Like a main theme is portal fantasy is having to leave at the end, which is not the case when you get reincarnated). When I think of a typical portal fantasy main character I think of someone like Bastian Balthasar Bux from Neverending Story or Quentin Coldwater, from the magicians. Like it has to be a dude that sucks just the right amount, where he's obviously trying but making all the worst choices. Because the point of portal fantasy is getting to go to a different world, learning how to be better and then getting back and putting that into action. Im not all that familiar with many isekai protagonist but from what I hear it seems to me that it's attempting a similar thing with a normal dude with obvious flaws having to make the best of a second chance but they dont often manage to give him enough depth to make that chance meaningful or it just starts conflicting with the power fantasy aspect.

It would seem as though Danny’s sudden decision to shave his arms would indicate his low key desire for Nick’s anime arm sleeve. Might I suggest starting with Rengoku’s “set your heart ablaze” bit. Something he seems passionate about and wrecked all our hearts while watching. Providing he discovers something hype regarding the iconic scene and engraved it on himself I would do the same. The most successful pirate in history was a gay Chinese woman named Ching Shih. She was known as the queen of pirates and commanded potentially 80,000 outlaws! She was once a prostitute, and married a male pirate captain, who died not long after leaving her to inherit the fleet. 1:09:00 So excited for Nausicaa! Nausicaa was my introduction to anime at like 2-years-old and it was my favorite movie for a long time!

Nick bashing the way books are meant to be read is inherently wrong. I like the accessibility of audio books and online media, but I can’t help but prefer the old school way of the tactile-ness of holding a book in my hands. The struggle of finding a good reading position only to lay heavy books open on a table is the best way in my opinion to experience that form of literature (but I also prefer audio while doing stuff). Ok, imma say it. Mushoku Tensei would not be the same or as good without Rudy. Mushoku Tensei is a story about how the main character uses his second chance at life to become a better person. Yes the main character is a pervert in the beginning, because he was a pervert literally yesterday. Change doesn't happen over night, and Mushoku Tensei shows that. As the series progress we see Rudy maturing as a person. Becoming less perverted and more normal. Take out him and you just have an average cookie cuter fantasy. Mushoku Tensei is an iseki for a reason.

Between the extreme body horror, plus the child like glee he gets from mutilating people, and the fact that if you don’t have cursed energy you cannot see him coming. He’s a menace. You could quite literally be minding your own business and cross the street at the wrong time, Mahito will just decide “yeah, this will make a good people nugget” and that’s just the end of it. To answer the question about the CGI, I’m currently taking a computer animation class and yeah the computer can make it automatically smooth between key poses. In fact that’s the default. You have to turn it off if you don’t want that, at least in auto desk MAYA

Since you were in a mini rant about there's not much on HIDIVE, let me just put out the recommendation of Made in Abyss at ya. It won the anime of the year awards back in 2017, has a movie that aired in 2020 and now season 2 is there and that aired last year of 2022. HIDIVE isn't that great but its benefits are that a lot of anime that bigger services would be hesitant to air due to darker content is easier to access through there.
