if anything ever deserves a second season, it’s this show.

This brings to mind the excitement that the mangaka for My Dress Up Darling felt after seeing her creation on screen. This was such a quiet show that felt so genuine. I will miss it.

This show was top notch from the direction, to the atmosphere, to the realistic portrayal of the characters. The way the story navigates the complicated waters of relationships and love for the main characters, as they overcome their pain and trauma as their relationship evolves through out the story, was simply great. In terms of enjoyment, Makeine is my top anime from all the new anime this season, but this would definitely be the second best one.

i love the fujinami and frieren parallel. both have the same VA and both have this saing of knowing the other based on past experiences. frieren "hated" sain because he reminded her how she was in the past, and also yuta reminds fujinami how she was in the past as well.. it was a nice coincidence

This was a marvelous experience. This author is so considerate and gentle with words... actually, the team behind this work needs to be praised. It is an experience to learn from. My top 3 of the season, it felt unique and memorable enough to make me want to live it once more. It's a 9.3/10 overall and 10/10 in its own right.

Man, Andrew, I love your videos. In this case, reading what the author (Ghost-sensei) wrote and giving such a delightful analysis on the anime (which he clearly he loved, as we also) it's a wonderful finale. I truly enjoyed the show, the maturity about feelings, the uncertainty about knowing your own feelings, the expectations outside your person... I think it's quite a show... and I guess (because I haven't read the source material) Ghost-sensei is a great author.

One of the more unique anime I have ever watched. The music and artwork really combined well to allow the relaxed pacing to demand my interest. There was great tension throughout.

This was my favorite anime this season and personally would be interested in seeing you do videos like this comparing your thoughts to what the original author has wrote for each episode. After hearing and/or seeing projects that get butchered in anime form and how that must make authors feel, its just great to see how happy this author is with this anime project.

I don't know about anyone else, but this will definitely be something that I'll be rewatching every now and then. It's that good.

I was wondering how they could end this well. The finale was awesome, excelent script by the author. The kind on humanism inscribed in both MC by the author was one of the best I have seen in anime. Kudos. This is how a great story gets a great end.

Thanks for doing another video covering the author's commentary, it was very interesting to listen to again especially for that excellent finale. This show is definitely also in my top three or so of the season too, very surprisingly.

Personally am the opposite. I think it ended at a good point and going further may ruin it. but maybe am not giving the author enough credit.
@himanshujamwal9077Ай бұрын
There are much higher chances that it will get a season 2 because in the light novel the story hasn't ended it's still ongoing so they will probably continue the story in anime too
@immatoll4375Ай бұрын
@@Marveryn I hope for one, but I agree that it might be almost impossible to capture this unique experience with additional seasons. And episode 9 as well as episode 12 where just masterpieces. Additionally I'm glad they changed the ending and let Saki cry.

25:30 The author's acceptance of the changes for anime from LN as making sense reminds me strongly of the Oshi no Ko instance of the Tokyo Blade mangaka eventual changes of her manga for the stage play. This shows how important it is for the original work's author to be involved in adaptations.

Most of the characters of the unrequited love are bad guys, they are shown as being the player or guy who just wants to use and abuse the heroine.
@MarverynАй бұрын
it worse in disaster movies. the extra lover is always a bad guy that has to die at the end so the hero can be together without the third wheel. Like a husband or Wife. See 2012 as an example.
@herbdeanisthegoldstandard8293Ай бұрын
The problem with a show like this is the premise of entertaining actual feelings for a step sibling is so immature and selfish . Like not only does it obviously complicate your families life in a bad way unless Japans culture with this is completely opposite American culture (I doubt it ) , but also the idea of only being able to be in love with one person is silly, obviously they can each just look for other people to fall in love with and find them eventually , probably find them sooner rather then later if you have an open mind / the right mindset
@SimonRGatesАй бұрын
I think "oba-chan" here is just an older woman, not an actual relative.
@MarverynАй бұрын
yeah that possible as you sometimes call someone auntie, uncle or even big bro/sis in asian culture even if you not direct relative if you respect them.
@immatoll4375Ай бұрын
It makes me angry how lazy the english sub where made when seeing this comment. I was confused when in the english sub was only translated to "I want to count on you". Even though it is familar and more common I think it still has by far not the same meaning as "I want to have expectations on you" (as translated also in german). It's for sure an uncommon expression, but it is so much deeper than only saying "I want to count on you" and this comment just prooves that there is also a deeper meaning on it.
@jeremiahperryman948Ай бұрын
Did anyone else notice that the author seems to repeatedly use the term sister in law rather than stepsister when she is clearly not an in law but a stepsibling since even in Japan to be someone's in law one by definition has married the aforementioned person's relative ?
@GeraldWallsАй бұрын
That's very common with anime/manga/LNs. The idea is that they are siblings by law, not by blood. That conflicts with our use of the phrase meaning siblings by a sibling's marriage but not by blood where step-siblings are related by parent's marriage but not by blood. This is just a difference in the languages coming through in the translation. There are relationships that don't have words in some languages, such as my sister-in-law (my wife's sister) vs my sister-in-law (my brother-in-law's wife), or even my sister-in-law (my brother's wife). When it makes a difference I have to say "my brother-in-law's wife". I imagine that some languages might have a special word/phrase for that.
@minghueileongАй бұрын
Cause Google Translate translates the word Gimai to sister in law instead of stepsister.
@elevicpernis9033Ай бұрын
The word gimai means either stepsister or younger sister-in-law.
@GeraldWallsАй бұрын
@@elevicpernis9033 I guess that's the problem then, sort of like I said. There isn't a different word for each like English has.

theres just something about hot garbage, this show was so unbelievably slow, it took 10 seconds for a character to go from the table to the door, and then they go through all that emotion about closing their feelings off for like 3 episodes just for one conversation with a random girl to change everything smh, typical stepsibling romance 😭😭
