What’s interesting about this anime is that the author treats the romance between the mom and the dad seriously. The parents are actually developed characters unlike the parents in other stories in this genre. It’s also interesting because it’s the relationship that they see with the parent’s marriage that helps them understand what a healthy relationship looks like and gives them hope that they can actually achieve that.

Just watched it a few hours ago. I love the subtlety of how they navigate their feelings. They're falling in love with each other but don't want to break apart the dynamics of this new family that they are starting to enjoy.

This is absolute cinema. I'm glad people started to understand the message of the anime. You can feel their sorrow, but understand that their decision comes from a place of love and understanding, you know that saki made that decision for the sake of her younger self. You understand what the stakes are. Saki was so well written, oh my. Not every romance ends in a happy tone, sometimes all we need is some closure. This is obviously the pick of this series, and for me, this made it a 10/10.

My impression as a LN reader (from what I recall) was that Yuta's and Saki's fear about acknowledging their feelings was primarily based around destroying their family dynamic by doing so (especially *if* it broke down) and their desire for their parents to be happy. Of course, what will follow is a deep exploration of their psyche and the additional hangups they had. I guess I didn't really *get* how those specific hangups were holding them back until they were highlighted in LN4. So maybe that's what Ghost is talking about? I guess I didn't catch that both felt that a relationship would be futile and a breakup all but certain and felt moreso they feared what would happen if it did.

I agree. The hang ups are actually explored more later on, but at the time (end of Vol 3) it's wasn't very clear to me, even though I did have a general feeling that both Saki and Yuta had some amount of hang ups regarding relationships.

Yuta's falling in love moment being him remembering back to a bunch of times he saw Saki smiling and happy was really neat. It's pretty interesting hearing some analysis of the author's commentary, I've been aware of them but stayed away since I didn't know how many spoilers they might have. I'd definitely watch more videos covering them if you find it interesting.

The author makes sure to not give any spoilers, it just helps you understand the episode better if you haven't read the LN.

The MC in R-A-GF is basically the author's self insert. He has even been seen in public walking around with a life size Chizaru doll.

I didn't read all the commentaries, but especially the ones on the key episodes are quite interesting to get the author's thoughts as well as a better understanding of what the LN was aiming to depict.

Anyone that likes this trope go read “Siscon Ani To Brocon Imouto Ga Shoujiki Ni Nattara”, and then read “Ani to Imouto no Shitai Shitai Shitai Koto”, read them recently and really enjoyed them.

First one is great, the final arc is a bit rushed but other that that, great story, the second one is a bit too heavy for me to enjoy, i prefer the more vanilla lovey dovey stories

@@Ricardo_Rick I actually slightly preferred the second, I just adored Shizuku, love her so much. I managed to find the 3 volumes of it in print, should have them in about 2 weeks. I’m still looking for the first story, I think at least some of the story was published in print but I can’t find it so far. I love the mangaka’s art style, Uta is one of the cutest characters I’ve ever seen, Shizuku too.

@@InfamyOrDeath-__- I think the second one is too heavy, i mean, the brother not only looks weird but is a bit messed up, and the sister is the type to manipulate and gaslight others, i just dropped after the new girl went on a first date with the MC, i felt really bad for her at the time and couldn't continue to read. As for Uta, yeah, she is great, really beautiful, i wish the manga had lasted for longer

8:31 he had better reaction for saki then the author of rent a girlfriend he’s genuinely love the character he created and how it was in the anime if I was ever a anime creator I wanted this exact reaction to my own character in the anime adaptation Also it like the Tokyo blade arc from Oshi no ko from this alone coincidence huh Also I understand the holding the feeling in yourself is a good thing but it’s also bad to do that especially when it comes to love

I'm not sure if this is getting a second season but if it's going to end after the finale of this season then it's most likely that the story ends with the happy family dynamic. If there's a second season, it could always open up the door for a resurfacing of old, suppressed feelings over time, especially as Yuta and Saki search for love on their own. Lots of potential for good drama. I'm saying this as an anime only so I have no clue how the original source material ended. Just speculation.

it has not ended. this covers to volume four, there are 11 in total with 12 releasing in october. interestingly enough, there was an author note at the end of one of the volumes that he hopes to keep writing this story later into their lives and not just end it abruptly.

1:28 it the exact reason why childhood friends rarely win the the air of not wanting to change the relationship as best girl said sister and childhood friend are basically the same they don’t want to change the relationships they already have or making for themselves if a childhood friend can win because they accept some changes then a sister route can win too Also I understand the holding the feeling in yourself is a good thing but it’s also bad to do that especially when it comes to love But regardless I respect the choice in it especially from this video

Did they ever address Saki mounting him in the first episode or whatever? It was like NEVER mentioned again. It feels like that was just an ecchi trap to get folks invested into the anime to stay.

without spoilers it was commonly thought this would either be domestic girlfriend OR they get close and one of the siblings dies. I am very pleased that these are not the routes taken it's a great show.
