I was 13 when I came across this song. It was the first time I've ever seen a woman singing metal. She showed me that we're made for this genre and I'm incredibly thankful for that.
@janath91182 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's right. I am a man of 60 years living in South Asia, and its the first time I have seen a female singing heavy metal this way. I knew about few female artists like Suzi Quatro, Lita Ford, Vixen etc who were on the hard rock music genre but never heard of a female heavy metal hard rock singer like Otep Shamaya until recently. This lady heavy metal artist is really good and her talents are equal to the other highest ranked heavy metal artists of today! Sorry about the late comment.

Me too. I found out about Otep Shamaya much recently but since then I listened to many of her songs. Her songs are very good and equal to or better than the music of some highest ranked or acclaimed metal bands of today. I too have much respect for Ms.Otep Shamaya.

"Ghostflowers" by Otep. Its a really good hard hitting heavy metal song. I found out about this band much more recently. The main vocals are by Ms.Otep Shamaya, the lady heavy metal singer who has many talents. It's very rare to find a female artist doing heavy metal stuff and she is doing it quite right! This band deserves much more acclaim than this, because they are in the same class as the highest ranked heavy metal, hard rock bands of today. Sorry about the late comment.

I saw otep live in Portland Oregon and it was just so awesome to see them perform. The band's that were opening acts as well as the one's that were touring with Otep were surprisingly well paired to be in the lime light and held up to a high standing level of quality that with time and more professional developmentally appropriate practice in the public eye on and off stage could go far with a solid career in the music industry touring with their own unique style and opening artists to pump up the volumeof the crowd's interests rising the anticipation for the time to have the band everyone came to see play

@ShogaNinja To be fair, there WERE more female-fronted metal bands before Evanescence than what Lita Ford put out .. Power Symphony, Hanzel und Gretyl, Hellion, White Skull, Holy Moses, Girlschool, Bitch, er..L7, kinda... hell, I think Gwar had a female vocalist a few times. Probably a lot more that I never heard of. The thing is, they never got any recognition. But they did exist, it's not fair to assume they didn't :P

You know... even though I am a christian, I still love Otep, and even though I am primarily republican, I still LOVE Otep, you know why? Because these songs are what keeps ppl from killing eachother, its a great outlet for anger and anguish, and I respect Otep for their belief in creativity and being the masters of their own lives. Don't let anyone tell you that the government or any higher being has control over your life, and believe in yourself.
