I looked into the impersonation policy. All fan accounts have to explicitly state that they are fan accounts within the name of the Title - For example if Pierre's channel name was ShyLilly Clips (A Fan Account) - he would have been fine because it would have been flagged as a fan account. The clip channel Tengoku clips is fine because who the hell is Tengoku? Well it's the operator of the clip channel of course so that one is fine. Daily Dose of Henya is not fine because it implies that "Daily Dose of Internet" is the operator of that account. The banner has to also be distinct, same with the Logo and watermark, particularly if it is a fan account. (which is what a clip channel is)

Float plane cannot work at the level of KZbin. Nebula/Curiosity Stream have been trying to get bought out for years. Nothing works at the scale of KZbin but KZbin. The cost is absolutely ruinous. One thing often forgotten is Google owns it's own national backbone network. They own some of the national interchange hubs. Google is the 3rd largest ISP on the continent but all of it is for their own private data on the network. No one else has that. They bought into it 20 years ago when AT&T was merging and selling off assets and noone knew why. Well, it made them an ISP with all the rights privileges and laws around it. No other tech company is legally allowed to be their own provider. So no other tech company can compete on data rates.

I really do think that the creators, both big and small, need to band together and create their own rival platform, one that actually assists creators with their goals and helps them grow. Frankly after YT's performance during the bungie impersonation event all hope I've had for them to be competent in these sorts of situations has been non-existent. If you don't already know, it was where someone in the Destiny community who got their channel removed for actual copyright violations pretended to be Bungie to mass copyright a bunch of other destiny content creators (including bungee's own official channel) in retaliation. Allegedly they were trying to prove a point about how easy it is to lose everything under YT's system which is plainly true, but obviously they went about it the wrong way. Anyway Bungie sued them in the end, but to do that they needed the information of who was impersonating them which YT had but kept refusing to hand over which overly complicated the matter.

The ShyLilyClips situation isn't ever going to be resolved, and I'll give you an example why. James Hoffmann is a coffee KZbinr who makes fantastic content, and he had a fan who made edits of his content to make him appear even more unhinged under the alias "Hames Joffmann". Hames' channel was integral to Mr. Hoffmann's community and was quite endeared by him, so it came as a shock to everyone, Mr. Hoffmann included, when Hames' channel was terminated for "impersonation". Mr. Hoffmann raised the issue with KZbin and even managed to get an email correspondence going with a human staff member to tell them that he was not being inpersonated, but it abruptly ended with KZbin's staff declaring that they will "stand by their decision to terminate the channel, and if any further issue is taken, please enlist you legal team to reach out to ours." _They literally told him to try and sue them to prove that someone else has explicit permission to use his content_

Shouldn't channels be taken down "for impersonation" on request? And not just randomly? I remember a while back there were many impersonators being reported and no one did anything, and now suddenly channels are getting taken down for uploading clips... This shit is crazy. KZbin is always doing things backwards, I don't even remember when was the last time that they addressed and fixed an issue in a timely and correct manner, they always come up with "solutions" years after they were first reported, and these "solutions" only bring more problems to creators. Was this put in place perhaps as contingency for AI videos promoting scams pretending to be celebrities? (kinda ironic since celebrities promote scams anyways) Otherwise this seems like a solution for an issue people were complaining about 7 or 8 years ago.

as I said last time before a bot took my comment down You don't see big clip channels like WatchMojo or trailer hosting channels deleted and their content demonitised. The movies they show and the TV series they have are largely available on KZbin as well, they are exempt because they're the mainstream media and KZbin doesn't want content creators anymore, they want to be like Netflix. But if I were someone like Shylily I'd start asking those sorts of questions as to why CERTAIN channels that are "approved of" are okay even if they are posting "reused content" and certain Creator made works aren't.

Atrocious doesn't even begin to do this issue justice. At this point, what should really happen is a class action lawsuit against KZbin where anyone banned wrongfully can be a plaintiff. You know at this point people will go out their way to go to the physical building to address this issue. While I'm reading the comments a lot of people suggesting of a competitor of KZbin. Here's the thing, i don't think it's possible for anyone to be BETTER than KZbin. KZbin has been the main platform and the main area for many to used, KZbin exist with us and I doubt a competitor would work. I think the only way for this to work is our voices to be heard not just from the internet but outside. We have seen many people before, holding up signs, speaking of their words - You get the idea. I doubt KZbin would care to look at videos and see there complaints as valid unless someone out of the community starts making up a sign or spoke a reason. Just my thoughts, I'm quite worried to all the small KZbinrs who have to deal with this even myself is worried if I make a wrong move.

It's all about the Almighty Dollar, sadly. In order to maximize profits to please their shareholders, they cut costs, primarily when it comes to labor. Forget about outreach and providing quality goods and services to increase your consumer base, just axe a huge portion of your workforce and reduce it down to almost nothing and save money that way. Heck, looking at Alphabet's list of shareholders, I recognized some of their largest ones, such as BlackRock and The Vanguard Group. Alphabet has some of the same shareholders as my former employer, a grocery store chain. And like Alphabet, my former employer also cuts costs by reducing manpower in their stores to skeleton crews. They are also major shareholders for another big company whose name escapes me but was also having trouble in the last couple years with maintaining operational effectiveness due to cutting labor costs. So it says to me that there is a common denominator here, namely the shareholders. This is frankly where the government needs to step in and rein in these greedy, out-of-control shareholders who want an ever-larger slice of the profit pie at the expense of workers and consumers; especially since these shareholders have investments in so many companies that we the consumer do business with, it would be almost impossible to boycott them.

I looked up the KZbin impersonation policy for clarification. KZbin has 2 issues of concern 1. Is the branding such as the title screen and logo 2. The channel name In the case of ShyLilly Clips, the issue Pierre had was that he did not specifically state in the name that this was no ShyLilly's account. Had the Channel name been something like: ShyLilly Clips (A Fan Account) then he would have been fine because it would be obvious that this channel is not owned by ShyLilly. This is the same with all of the Daily Dose clip channels. The implication is that the clips are all done by the owner of Daily Dose of Internet, which they are not. This is what KZbin says what to look out for: 1. If you're posting content Don’t post content on KZbin if it fits any of the descriptions noted below. (I've included the examples that KZbin says what not to do) 2. Channel impersonation: A channel that copies another channel's profile, background, or overall look and feel in such a way that makes it look like someone else's channel. The channel does not have to be 100% identical, as long as the intent is clear to copy the other channel. 3. Personal impersonation: Content intended to look like someone else is posting it. If you operate a fan channel, make sure you state so explicitly in your channel name or handle. It should be obvious to your viewers that your channel doesn't represent the original creator, artist or entity your channel is celebrating. That last sentence is important for clip channels - explicitly state in the name of the channel that it is a fan channel Here are some examples of content that’s not allowed on KZbin. 1. Channels with the same identifier (channel name or handle) and image as another channel, with the only difference being a space inserted into the name or a zero replacing the letter O. 2. Using someone else's real name, user name, image, brand, logo, or other personal information to trick people into believing you are that person. 3. Setting up a channel using the same identifier (channel name or handle) and image of a person, and then pretending that person is posting content to the channel. 4. Setting up a channel using the name and image of a person, and then posting comments on other channels as if they were posted by the person. 5. Channels claiming to be a 'fan account' in the channel description, but not stating so clearly in the channel name or handle, or posing as another’s channel and reuploading their content. 6. Channels impersonating an existing news channel. Remember these are just some examples, and don't post content if you think it might violate this policy.

I've said this before but I'm pretty sure they are doing this for a few reasons because not all of the clippers affected are clipping content from youtube so it isn't all repeated content. 1. They are trying to push creators to put this type of content on youtube shorts on their own channel. 2. Not everyone who is subscribed to a clips channel is subscribed to the original creator, their hope is everyone will go subscribe to the original content making those channels have more subscribers so they can market them to higher paying advertisers increasing youtubes own income by marketing to consolidated audiences vs marketing with lower paying advertisers spread out (TLDR: more large channels means youtube can charge companies more to post ads.) 3. it's no secret the success of V-tubers is attributed in large parts to clip channels, They are hoping by targeting these they can force v-tubers to higher clippers to post the content on their main channel similar to editors thus putting the financial burden of paying said clippers on the Content Creator and not on youtube. 4. By targeting clippers in general and not just people who clip youtube content they probably believe streamers like ShyLily who doesn't actually stream on youtube (proof the repeated content is a lie) will begin streaming on youtube to reach that audience.

That's called network effect, KZbin is where the content is, what is known and thus where the viewers are. The biggest competitors are a well known porn site company who was considering making an alternative, but because they do the content that they do the banks in the US are blocking them from using credit cards ? So they've been down sizing. The other biggest competitor is the platform from a Chinese company and which is why KZbin now has shorts. These Chinese company is in trouble with congress in the US, so that's not gonna last. The best running alternative made by creators is Nebula.

Lots of things about YT have been broken for a long time. It's sad that Google will not do anything to fix their systems. Even on something much smaller, like copyright claims over royalty-free music, even the creator of said music cannot do anything, and there's no penalty for false claims. This is much bigger, since I'm not big enough to monetize, since clippers like Pierre depend on income from YT. It shouldn't be so easy to make a person's livelihood disappear, just because they're related to VTubers, and YT doesn't like VTubers.

They don't have anywhere near the amount of people they'd need to have a person look at every channel they ban. They can only look at a tiny fraction of appeals. People can volunteer, though. They would be doing it, not out of a sense of getting paid, but out of a sense of community and helping others. That's why we have volunteer firefighters, for example. Yes, it's a wildly different profession than being a moderator on KZbin, but the spirit of helping others is still the same. You don't get paid, but you do it anyway because you're helping people.
