Thanks for doing a casting series Ott! I’ve always felt like casting was the most important part of fishing. If you can’t get your bait in front of the fish you can’t catch ‘em.

I never heard about turning the reel on its side. I will try that next time out. Thanks for the tip.

Your the first pro I have ever heard talk about rotating the reel on its side. I've done it several times and noticed over the past 4 yrs that it does make a positive difference. I'm not sure why it is. I thought I was the only one. Iv thought several times and I think it's just putting alittle more force on the tention Knob. And that slight friction helps to not backlash.

I think it’s allowing the reel to ride on the axle of the spool better. That’s my opinion 🤷🏻♂️

Enjoyed video Ott! First casting style I really worked to be good at,, being a bank fisherman early in my life. As I got better gear,, ain’t nothing like slinging a plug thru a zip code area😂😂😂!!

I'll tell you what I do for practice and fun at the house when I can't fish for whatever reason... I'll take a couple buckets or my gold pans and lay them in the yard under a tree or beside the bushes and then I'll stand on something, typically a large, square cornerstone from the flowerbed and then I practice pitching a jig into those pans from different angles and distances. You can stand on anything but it's important to stand on something so you can imitate being above the water in your boat. I always recommend this to my fishing buddies that need practice flipping and pitching and it's actually kinda fun to me 😅🤙🇺🇸

Ott, I like how you do your videos for the professional to the beginner. Thanks for all you do. Looking forward to following you on tour this year. I wish you were fishing a lake near me this year here in Arkansas.

Ott, have you done a video on braid line? Like 4 strand 8 or 13 and which one do you use. Also when using straight braid what color. Anything you can tell us about how you use braid. Thanks Ott God bless you and your family. 🙏🎣

With braid I use the Bass Pro stuff most times. Not sure what the strand count is but I think it’s 8.

I taught myself to use a baitcaster but have only used one maybe 3-4 years now. The same time I've been exclusively bass fishing since I no longer live near the salt. I break allot of baits off for some reason when over hand casting. Not sure if that's a result of so many years of "whipping" a bait with a spinning reel? I noticed I do turn the baitcaster on its side when casting. Not sure where I got that from. But seems like the bait goes further. God Bless!

Thanks Ott for the great tips. Have you used the JM 30 size baitcast reel? I was looking at getting one to use for big swimbaits. Wondering if it would be a good one.

I see you were on TV throwing a chatter bait some with the bass pro cranking stick. Are you using the 7’0 or 7’6 MH?
@OttDeFoeFishing Жыл бұрын
It was most likely the 7’3” H. That’s my chatterbait rod.
@jaredgreen2524 Жыл бұрын
@@OttDeFoeFishing I have the 7’0 crankin stick and love it. I’m going to go buy the 7’3 heavy now and use for big crank baits and chatter baits. Thanks for the response and have a great season.
