There's nothing Rumple despise more than people who doesn't care for their child. He learned that in the hard way and all what we see on 6 seasons of the show are totally related or a consequence of his choice for power over Baelfire. I can't think of any character that didn't had its story influenced by him on any way, and I've binge watched this series 3 times already lol.

I love how they truly believed they could outwit the Dark One. Forgetting him seeing the future, he would literally be able to spy on you with magic and still know everything going on. You can't just lie about crops dying and expect him to believe. I think he would be able to SEE if it's true or not. Rumple played them all like a fiddle. Sometimes, you gotta sacrifice for the great game.

This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series, also one of my favorite scenes from that episode, and it's because of Robert Carlyle. I love how Rumple warns her time and time again. He warns her before he grants her wish to go to the ball, not just once, but multiple times, and he warns her again in this scene. He knows what she's doing, he knows exactly what's going on, he knows that it'll have huge repercussions for her, and he warns her. He practically screams that he knows everything, and all but begs her to reconsider, even though he needs her to do it. Even though its a part of his plan, he still tries to talk her out of it. It really humanizes him, and makes him sympathetic in my mind.

Also who is really the villains here? The guy who sells his services for a high price but does not force her hand. Or the Heroes who goes back on a deal and imprison the seller after he has done his part of the deal? I love it is not so black and white in OuaT, but I do wonder how many evil deeds Prince Charming and Snow white committed camouflaged as "good".

@@fanghur caveat emptor. Buyer beware. That's one of the very few things I don't like about OUAT. They made Ella seem like such a gold digger. She was so desperate to "escape her life," that she eagerly took Rumple's deal without understanding it, despite all the numerous warnings he gave her. In all fairness, even if she had understood the price, I think that she still would've made the deal.

Rumple never actually wanted the baby. He wanted to be imprisoned so he could make a deal to learn what Snow White was going to name her daughter. Season 1 Rumple was a master manipulator and played EVERYONE. Later seasons ruined him but early on he was a magnificent bastard.

Maybe it's just me, but I think he was a master manipulator due to the fact that he had a lot of time to plan what needed to be done in order to reach his secular target. Also, he used to have the abillity to see some parts of the future. He lost it at some point. In later seasons he is more spontaneous. It felt pretty natural to me when I was watching the show.

Rumple is actualy the smartass on that show. We'll never know if he really wanted Alexandra (Cinderella's daugther), but for sure, he wanted to be caught. Perhaps for knowing Snow White's daughter's name, because at that moment, he can see the future, anf had a plan to find his son Balefire. We souldn't forget that he's always two steps ahead on every seasons.

Anyone who has not seen it should watch Ravenous (1999). The actor for Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold plays a character in that movie known as Colqhoun/Colonel Ives, a cannibal Wendigo with a detailed plan on manifest destiny in early America when the west was being settled, and his plan was to kidnap, kill, and consume men, women, children, families, and loners who went through the main post to California in search of gold. The entire movie, he sounds or acts more like Mr. Gold but his vibe and aura are like Rumplestiltskin.

I think he wanted the baby so he could see his mother. His mother takes children so he wanted the baby to get answers about why she left him as a child. We learn this in later episodes so it wasn’t probably first intention but it’s nice to think about.

I love that they never revealed what happened to him, not everything needs to be explained, to me it makes Rumple way more scarier, it makes you wonder where he went and how he did it being that he was in a cage where he was suppose to be powerless and being right by David. It also makes him so scary that he knows what he's doing and he also had to have heard their conversation somehow in the jail when Thomas said he would pay the price if the plan didn't work.

Different realms/dimensions. In the beginning of season 7, Henry says that there are different versions of the fairy tale characters. It is like people from the Land without magic heard these stories, but they assumed they are the same characters since they have some similarities (and, of course, they don't believe in them). Like in mithology (for example, Eros = Cupid). But this theory has it's inconsistences, since Wish realm (or the dimension we are talking about) didn't really exist until Evil Queen (the half one) wished to.
