Keep in mind, in a different version of the tale, Sleeping Beauty is cursed for 100 years. The writers could have been pulling from the old tales, especially as there were multiple Sleeping Beauties in OUAT.

Lol there's a plot hole here. In the very first few episodes of Season, when Maleficent said to Regina, "Weren't you her age when you were to be married?" and Regina's like, "Ah yes, it was about the same age when that Sleeping Beauty got the best of you". This was before the first curse. But we know, in the second season, that Aurora was not woken up until after the first curse broke. And this scene happened way before Rumple even mentioned the curse to Regina, so obviously Aurora had not foiled Maleficent's plans yet. Not that I have so much of a problem, there are a couple of plot holes in this show but I can easily ignore them :) I just thought it was interesting. I am impressed by how many times they actually do properly connect and think about things that happened in flashbacks from past seasons.

Technically Maleficent's curse was meant to kill, it was one of the 3 fairies who changed it into a sleeping curse that can only be broken by true love... So Maleficent never created the Sleeping Curse.

And to top it all off for not sending a invitation to maleficent to attend. To the ceremony christening celebration of his daughter princess Aurora.
