Studies show that tumeric is poorly absorbed by the body, but amazingly just adding a dash of black pepper makes the turmeric widely available for the body! Throw in some pepper ( must be black pepper not cayenne)

I have one of those little plates that my daughter got for me in South Africa. I'll have to try using it for ginger. Another trick that I love for ginger is to peel it, cut it into chunks, and freeze. Frozen ginger grates so easily with a microplane grater.

I throw the whole "hand" of ginger, skin and all in the freezer, take off a chunk when needed, and microplane that baby up! Skin and all! Saves so much money on limp, wilted ginger trying to survive in the fridge in between uses.

I’m still trying to train my taste buds to change. I’ve got the book and have tried things out of it. Here’s something I noticed. The first time I tried some of these they didn’t appeal to me. I was trying to be plant-based for several months and got frustrated and fell off the wagon. Got back on and tried some other things and some work some I’m still searching for. But I’ve noticed that now on my third go around I’m trying things that I didn’t like before and they seem to taste better or different now. I guess I’ll just share that in case anyone has the same struggle that I had a couple years ago. I’m not completely where I want to be but I keep plugging along and pressing forward and eventually I’ll find a couple of really good dressings that I love. Thank you both for all you’ve done.

I'm not a huge fan of ginger, so I hadn't tried the dressing that Ann & Dr. Esselstyn eat every night... until today when I was low on vinegar, and I loved it! It's so good. I think it'll be my new go-to dressing. It's called "Ann and Essy's Favorite Dressing" and it's on p. 168 of The Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease Cookbook. So I guess it's good to try something, even if you don't think you'll like it. Thanks for doing these videos. After Forks Over Knives video, I read Dr. E's book, and have been to a Forks2 weekend event, and your family's recipes are my favorites.
