Hope the switch's successor is powerful enough to allow ports of some of the games i've been looking forward to play (metaphor, eldin ring, p3 reload) but other than that, giving us a system with inbuilt controllers and an extra pro controller for docked play is something i'm really looking forward to now. Great video man!

NINTENDO!!!!! BRING BACK DUEL SCREENS AND STREETPASSSSS AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🗣🗣🔥🗣This was an awesome video though and I think this is a highly realistic expectation. They're probably gonna play it pretty safe. however I don't see what kind of gimmick they can do. Every "sequel" console we've had has had a gimmick that shows its different from the original, think DS to 3DS or Wii to WiiU.

Some corrections based on the current rumors It has an 8 inch 1080p screen, making substancially bigger than the Switch 1 It uses new joycons that attached to the tablet via "magnetic suction" instead of with rails The RAM is 12gb LPDDR5X at 7500Mhz
@CaptainSNES2 ай бұрын
That ram increase alone would be insane
@CaptainSNES2 ай бұрын
Do we have any current examples of magnetic suction being used on a consumer product in a similar way? Maybe MagSafe?
@MacBack123Ай бұрын
CaptainSNES Yeah, MagSafe would be a good example. They've been using it since 2008 or so i think, discontinued it in 2016 for USB-C, and re-continued it in 2021 or so.

Joycon compatible but not included makes sense with how they released the Joycon charger so late in the Switch's lifespan.

My biggest hope is that the Switch and its variants we’ve had to this point will be looked back as the DS/DSi iteration of the console’s life, and that the Switch 2 will be considered the 3DS iteration. Nintendo has had years to look forward to the Switch successor, and much like how they constantly improved the DS family of systems, the Switch 2 will have cemented the concept of a hybrid console and Nintendo will take the opportunity to really just have fun and experiment with the software and addons, just like how the 3DS is still the pinnacle of handheld gaming long after its death.
@CaptainSNES2 ай бұрын
I would love to see some experimentation, I want to see Nintendo be Nintendo again, I still enjoy the games they put out but everything just feels off from the charm we used to have

I wonder if we'll see a sort of pseudo 3d technology on the switch 2. Instead of stereoscopic 3d, which definitely won't happen again, they could use motion controls and eye tracking for parallax 3d. I've seen a lot of great tests of this tech but I haven't seen it really used anywhere. (it would only be in handheld mode obviously, and they wouldn't make it the main gimmick. But it would be an interesting feature that could make top down games like zelda feel like miniature dioramas)
@CaptainSNES2 ай бұрын
Are you talking about the same type of 3d the 3ds had? Otherwise I’m not aware of parallax 3d
@radiognomeinvisible2 ай бұрын
@@CaptainSNES Nope! Try looking up "parallax gyro 3d test," and you should see some examples, it's a really cool effect on 2d screens. It's definitely a good alternative to stereoscopic 3D, I don't know why it's rarely used anywhere

Based on the Switch 2's gpu specs I estimate it'll be ~4.3x more powerful than the Switch. That's ~30% stronger than the Steamdeck and ~60% stronger than the Xbox One, but ~2.4x weaker than the Xbox One X. It's basically a cut down RTX 2050 MaxQ / MX 570. 1536 Cuda cores using ~10W.
@CaptainSNES2 ай бұрын
What are we basing those specs on? A new nvidia soc?
@kolbyking23152 ай бұрын
@@CaptainSNES T239 specs. It's Ampere (3000s). One source says it has 1536 Cuda cores (Ampere RTX 2050 MaxQ has 2048). Another source has says it gets 2.5 - 4 Tflops in FP32 when docked (2050 MaxQ get 4.7 Tflops). It would probably have a similar power usage (TDP) to the current switch, which is 10W - 15W (2050 MaxQ is 30W). The Ampere RTX 2050 MaxQ is 1.44x weaker than the Xbox One X gpu (~RX 580). At best, the Switch 2 is 1.7x weaker than the XB1X. At worst, it's 2.7x weaker. It's probably halfway between a PS4 and a PS4 Pro in terms of performance when docked.
@CaptainSNES2 ай бұрын
@kolbyking2315 so in terms of a straight comparison our strongest contender is the ps4 pro just a bit weaker in the gpu department, that sounds fine to me. What do you think about the storage solution?

@@CaptainSNES I'm seeing "256 GB UFS 3.1", like used in the Pixel 6 or Samsung Galaxy S22.
