Damn, that was a scare. Glad it was 'only' the water pump. I think we should do several more 0-100 times. lol

I’ve been tossing the rad drain plugs and petcocks and going to a brass ball valve with a nipple on it. Makes draining rad fast and easy

Erratic fuel gauge on my Ford '85 F-250 was caused by moisture and ethanol in the gasoline crudding up the contact wiper and resistance element in the sending unit. My truck sat for 2 years with a full tank of gas, both tanks, and both sending units were erratic when I resumed driving. I tried a lot of different fuel and carb cleaners. A combination of Lucas and Marvel Mystery Oil with full tanks finally dissolved the crud away. I now drive off the front tank, 18.2 gallons, with the ethanol-laced gasoline and the rear tank, 38 gallons, is filled with gasoline that contains NO ethanol along with Stabil and Marvel Mystery Oil. The spare is either inside the bed rail or on a Road Master hitch extension. I use the ethanol-free gasoline in my generators which prevents the ethanol-water crud from forming and gumming up the cab. The only place for ethanol, IMHO, is in wine, beer, and Jim Beam.

This one was a bad voltage regulator on the gauge cluster
@ArnCitalАй бұрын
@@VeteranRevivals Yeah, remember that device. 15 years ago I replaced it and later the fuel transfer valve which has internal switches for the fuel tanks. A few years back before the lay up I clanged to Autometer fuel gauge which requires 12 volt.That was the meter that was erratic after the truck sat for several years. The fuel pumps in the tanks also get crudded up by ethanol so I use them as lift pumps to a Holley fuel pump which outputs about 8 psi. The truck had the junk hot fuel bypass which I removed and replaced with a Holley bypass pressure regulator and excess fuel is bypassed back the the gas tank it came from via transfer valve. My carb gets a steady 5.5 psi.

@@VeteranRevivals It's gonna be mostly Broncos, but I've seen a handful of slick side, bump side and dent side trucks show up too.

My "55" was too low geared, I was at a junkyard and the guy said he had what I needed. The 55 was a sealed unit; so he had the complete housing everything, w/a 300/1 diff. Wow, what a difference, slow on the get go, but I could get on the fry 65-70 mph in 2nd drop'er into 3rd and just cruise. Had a 390 thunderbird w/4brl carb and 3speed on the column. Brings back memories.. The worst was getting rid of it... Soo enjoy your Oldies, they're looking good..

Yeah I'm thinking 3.55/1 or even a little taller. Make it a cruiser.

gas guage problem-, take your sending unit out and swap the wires on the unit and it sends the ohms backwards so it works with aftermarket gauges. Not sure why it works but it does read pretty close to correct,
@VeteranRevivals11 ай бұрын
Im not sure I can on this one, it grounds to the tank so it only has one wire coming up from the sending unit.

8:24 awesome video!I just finished installing mine hopefully start up this weekend! What throttle cable are you using?

Thank you! Just a universal Mr Gasket one from O Reilly's. Not really a fan of it because it tends to make the initial press of the throttle difficult
