our buddy Leon upgraded this year and bought this little sweetie! it's a 2004 MXZ 600 and she's in pretty good shape! we have a bit of fun checking it out and fixing a couple of small issues on it as well as give it a new look with a custom wrap from our buddy Nick Dart @ Nick Dart Designs. 🍻

We just bought the same one. A 2004 MXZ 600 SDI XPS Edition. Great machine. It replaces the 1997 Polaris XLT Touring that has a whole bunch of issues.

Though I am not historically a Doo man having owned Artic Cats and now a Yamaha, I can confidently say that every penny invested into the MXZ 600 will be money well spent. Though the 06 and 07 models were the peak of that Rev set up, the 04 was darn good too and not only will you love the great gas mileage it gets, you'll enjoy the handling and reliability, too. Just a fantastic fun sled. And now a really good looking one, too.

Those 600's run well. Wrap looks amazing! The ice ripper tracks do what they're supposed to but obviously not the same as picks. That sled would have come right up with picks on the track, especially with Leon standing on the back!

I put 15000km on a 04 mx adr. 9000km before Cudney Racing piston rings. First two mods I suggest are oil pump return spring (from leaver on pump to frame) and a stocking around the inside of the side panel air filter (stops the rubber belt dust from being sucked in carbs.

Need to get me one of those 'she dangles' stickers. If you ever re-do another seat cover try to use stainless steel staples. It will help prevent them from rusting and creating the same issue again.

If you have some old skidoo zx chassis 700 jugs laying around, they bolt right to the bottom end of that 600 ho. Just a 700 piston kit and jugs and a re jet of the carbs and those skis will definitely dangle. No replacement for displacement!

Another awesome video Pete! How about a suspension rebuild on a vintage muscle sled. My 98 xcr 700 lets say gravity has made her quite saggy and the shocks not so foxy anymore. Don't know how to go about giving her a lift or shock rebuild.

I'm not too sure off the top of my head 🤔 I can't remember what style of clutch it would have on it? if it doesn't have any kind of visible adjusters on the face of the secondary then it would have to be taken apart and adjusted with shims...hope that helps 🍻

I had a 2003 Rev 800 and your buddy should put a Dynamo Joe Clutch kit in it. It will make that sled a complete different animal. Search KZbin: "Dynamo Joe Clutch Kit in action". I could pull up to a full slough bed with cattails and poke my skiis under the snow. All my buddies would say: "We are not helping you get unstuck". I`d hold it to the bar and no stumble, hold the skiis straight up and go right through.

i have a friend that did pro circuit with a thundercat he had it all dialed in it took him 3 years to get on top then artic cat cut back and dropped him he was mad yamaha got him on board but they wouldnt give him a sled to race l;ike artic cat did every year.every year artic cat gave him the newest and lastest beast he knew how to tune them omg he had national records.on grass and asphault.hes 50 now and no longer races it was to much he said wife and kids need me more and beer

Does oil around the rave valves mean something? Can't seem to get mine to stop leaking oil.

yeah I'd say they need to be cleaned and serviced. take them out clean the valves, there are o rings that seal on the shaft of the valve as well as the main gaskets for the valve. I suggest replacing those and check the bellows to make sure they are in good condition too. I did a video of a mxz 700 rebuild that shows a bit of the rave valve issues as well. hope that helps! 🍻

i wish you guys could run across them old mach1s and the z;s i bought a 01 700 twin spring model only mxz x it was dark red with yellow accents they had a 800 mxz x standing for spring model only i got out of it to but the 700s in 01 where smoking the same 800s it was funny.i talked to the dealer and got a huge poster for the 800 if anyones interested i could send you a pic of it.i traded a mint 1998 formula z 583 200 miles on it and 4800 dolllars for it in 01.2 years later i got divorced and i found out its rare back then.just had it 2nd year 1200 miles on it.a guy said im on my way ill give you double what you paid for it and he did he was 4 states away.he wanted that sled and thats what he wanted.sold!.now looking back i regret that sale that sled was your moma sled
