Nice portion sizes at Sonny's. We have been to a Sonny's one time before in Florida. Both of the sandwiches looked yummy! Thought it was reasonably priced too. Would definitely go to another Sonny's if given the opportunity. Great video!

Good to see Sonny 's showcased. I grew up eating Sonny's being from the Gainesville FL area. Enjoyed it very much. I now live in NC a little over an hour away from Concord I visit the Sonny's when ever I'm in the area. The food is really good. Thanks for the video.

We have been to the Sonny's in Concord. That's the only one left in North Carolina now. And Rock Hill is the only one left in South Carolina. They're still pretty prevalent in Georgia and Florida. You being from Gainesville, I guess that means you've probably eaten at the original location?

We have a Uncle Sonny BBQ in my hometown. Don't know if it is the same as your Sonny's. When I heard the name, I googled it on my mobil phone. It is just about 1/2 mile from my house. I hope you both have a blessed weeks.

I know there are still lots of them in Georgia and Florida, and some in Kentucky. Not sure where you live, to know if it is the same chain. Probably not, since yours has "Uncle" in front of it.

Y’all really need to go to Captain Steve’s seafood restaurant! It’s not far from Sonny’s right up 21. Close to Carowinds. Best. Seafood. Around. And we are from Lancaster where we always went to Catawba Fish Camp right across the river on highway 9 in Fort Lawn. That USED to be our go to place until we discovered Captain Steve’s! Love y’all! PS have y’all ever heard of “Narrow Way Theater”? It’s also up there close to the old Heritage USA. Dinner theater that’s Christian themed. Love y’all!

I am a novice person when it comes to Bar -B-Q places to eat. I suppose being from Pennsylvania, not many around the area. I only know of charcoal and gas grills. Funny story but I have no idea why I am sharing this with you because it really makes me feel stupid. My daughter and I stopped at a roadside Bar -B-Q and you could see the big smokers blowing smoke in the air. There were many people standing in line so we decided to eat there. Oh my, I did not like it, no sticky sauce, no grill marks this was half a chicken. I told my daughter that it tasted like a campfire but was red inside. I was thinking it was not entirely cooked through so I asked if they could throw it back on the grill! I was told it was entirely slowed cooked and it was smoked ring and it was supposed to look like that. I went back and slapped on the sauce and still didn’t agree with me. My daughter ate her pulled pork and I tossed mine in the garbage can. When we got to the Jeep, I made her take me to Popeye’s for crispy chicken! I been to Butts on the Creek in Maggie Valley, N. C. and did enjoy the meal there. I really wish we had the tasty southern fixen’s ! Safe travels and blessings sent to you and your precious fur babies.
@NCMemoryMakers7 ай бұрын
Yes, when BBQ is smoked with wood, it will be a pink color and often leaves a smoke ring...especially in brisket or pork. Sorry you didn't care for it. I love BBQ more than most foods on the planet. A beef brisket that is juicy and tender, is one of life's great joys. Glad you had a great time at Butts On The Creek, though. We have a video from there, as well. Thanks for watching, and for the well wishes.

Being from Eastern NC, I do not accept your apology (JK). Lexington style BBQ is straight trash. But I love all other BBQ and sauces from the rest of the country other than the SC mustard. But this particular Sonny's brings back many memories. My Aunt and sister live in Rock Hill, and when Grandma was around we used to take her out to eat there after church on Sunday. Her being from Texas, she always approved of Sonny's. I loved their okra and corn nuggets the most. Great Texas toast also, and love all the sauces. My other favorite chain BBQ place is Famous Dave's. I may even like Dave better.

Have you been to Smithfield Chicken and BBQ? It is a chain in eastern NC but there is one in Charlotte next to Premium Outlets not far from Carowinds. I like to stop at the one in Laurinburg on the way to the beach. If you go, get the chicken but try the bbq also.
@NCMemoryMakers7 ай бұрын
Yes, we have been to several Smithfield locations across the state, including the one in Charlotte off of Interstate 485. Been there several times. I do love the fried chicken, and that's what I always get, mainly because they only offer the vinegar sauce for the BBQ. But their chicken is a winner. When our son was still playing baseball as a kid, he would always make all stars, and our teams usually made it to state tournament. When we had those tournaments, they would usually be down east. We ate at Smithfield in Knightdale, Dunn, Laurinburg, and Siler City, as well.

Why don't you ever eat some of everything you ordered? You kept talking about the garlic bread but you didn't take a bite for us.
@NCMemoryMakers7 ай бұрын
You obviously do not watch many of our videos. We normally do take at least 1 bite of everything. Do you actually enjoy watching people eat and chew? What do you gain from watching me eat a bite of it, that you can't get from me describing how good it is?
@NCMemoryMakers7 ай бұрын
Upon watching the video again, I will simply point out that my wife also got the garlic bread on her sandwich, and DID take a bite of it. You literally saw her bite into 2 pieces of garlic bread at the same time. But you're upset because I didn't show myself doing the same? Sounds a little like you just want to criticize me, for some reason? So, to summarize...She took a bite of her sandwich (with garlic bread), I take 2 bites of brisket, and you need something to criticize, so you get upset because I didn't personally bite into the bread on camera, but told how it was. That is unbelievable. The fact is, we are paying for our meals, and we have the right to enjoy them while they're still warm. We review places. We do not exist to entertain anyone. If we took the time to sample each and everything, and then record us eating our meal and talking about it, then we don't get to enjoy our food warm. And if we're paying for it, then we have that right. If you do not like that, then maybe this is not the channel for you. By the way, people who have never made any comments on this channel whatsoever, have not yet earned the right to criticize. Maybe be glad of God's blessings on your life, instead of trying to find something to criticize and be negative about.
