Manacled is post-war for most of the book, but it’s a dark AU where Voldy won. There are flashbacks to during the war, but it’s later on and used in such an amazing and heartbreaking way. Reading Manacled genuinely changed the trajectory of my life forever lmao. As a fan of Sarah J. Maas, tension, and DAMN GOOD WRITING, I highly recommend. Just be sure to read the trigger warnings, it’s one of the darkest books I’ve personally read.

GIRLIES I would strongly suggest giving Lord of the Rings a try!! I also thought "eh, I'm not the target audience" but gave them a chance anyway and oh my goodness. They are some of the best films I have ever seen. Everything about them is perfect: the casting, acting, score, costuming, dialogue, filming location, effects, etc. NOTHING about the movie production takes me out of Middle Earth - it's one of the most successfully immersive fantasy stories I've ever seen. Tolkien is called the father of modern fantasy for a reason - if not for his stories we likely wouldn't have GoT, Star Wars, etc. so for that reason alone, the films are a great way to see where our 20th/21st century fantasy genre essentially started! And the messaging??? Extremely applicable right now. The plot???? Captivating. Highly suggest giving them a try, extended edition if possible but also the theatrical versions are just fine too!!

Try sticking it out! It started out as a YA series but transitioned to adult (much to my surprise when reading a smut scene at 15). I adore ACOTAR because of the characters but TOG cannot be beat. I promise it’s worth your while!

Manacled changed me, i mean its long, like LONG LONG but wow what a way to change the story but continue it. I did feel some of the characters personalities were a little off compared to how i feel they would behave but this is a much darker spin on things.
