The Vstrom 1050xt has hill hold control. That means that the bike recognizes when you are on a hill and brakes so the bike won't roll backwards. To deactivate it you have to press two times quickly the front brake with the moto running. And please the next time when you want to maneuver the bike always have it running and with gear so if something goes wrong you can control the bike. Wishes and good luck!!!

I hope that now, 2 weeks later, that you've gotten used to turning the heavy beast around in steep driveways. It's something I used to find daunting, but after 11 years of V-Strom ownership, it is easy. Are you going to post the paper maps home once you've done them and traced your route on them? I'd hate to see how bulky they'll all get in your panniers! HaHa! Gorgeous little villages and great countryside! I'm hoping to get over there and explore the UK by bike next year. I visited Stonehenge back in 1998. Great to briefly see it again. I remember being surprised that a major road was so close to it as in my mind growing up, I thought it was in some remote location! I'm pleased to see that you guys are vegetarians and keen to see how you get on in various countries. I've been a veggie myself for 12 years or so now. 🙂
@LaviandOllie2 жыл бұрын
Yes we are getting more used to handling the weight of this bike and doing manoeuvres, but we still have more learning to do! As for the maps we will be posting the English, French and Spanish ones home before we leave Spain and then hopefully getting a one that covers all of North Africa for the next leg! That’s awesome to hear that you have been veggie for so long good on you! I hope we will be able to keep it up without too many problems as we continue to travel further 😁🤞
@MrAusadventure2 жыл бұрын
@@LaviandOllie Definitely keep up the map thing. I traced my exact journey on maps at the time on a road trip across the USA back in 1998 and I still like to get the map book out every now and then to see exactly where I went. I'd have no idea now if not for that book. My ex and I used to have an online vegan store so I was vegan for a while, but found it hard to maintain on bike trips through rural Australia so I started eating a bit of dairy and eggs again to make it easier to eat on the road. When I was travelling in Vietnam I found Google translate to be helpful in making sure I got Vegetarian food. You guys have travel experience so I reckon you'll be fine! 😁
